Claims
- 1. A stabilized composition which comprises
- (a) an organic material subject to damage by light oxygen and heat, and
- (b) an effective stabilizing amount of at least one compound of formula Ia or IIa ##STR71## in which n is 1 or 2, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 independently of one another are hydrogen, --OH, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl or halogen, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 independently of one another are hydrogen, --OH, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkoxy, halogen or a radical --O--A--R.sub.7,R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 independently of one another are hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl, halogen or a radical --O--A--R.sub.7, A is a direct bond, --(CH.sub.2).sub.m CO-- where m=zero or 1 to 4, --CH.sub.2 CH(R')O-- or --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 --, E is a direct bond, --(CH.sub.2).sub.s CO-- where s=1 to 4 or --(CH.sub.2).sub.r -- where R=1 or 2R' is hydrogen, methyl or phenyl, R.sub.7 is a mono- or divalent radical comprising at least one polyalkylpiperidine group of the formula III ##STR72## and R.sub.7 ' can have the same meaning as R.sub.7 or is the divalent radical of a diamine or diol, where in the latter case at least one of the radicals R.sub.3 to R.sub.6 in formula IIa is a group --O--A--R.sub.7, with the proviso that possible substituents in the 1 position of the piperidine ring are not bonded to the N atom via --O-- if A is --CH.sub.2 CO--.
- 2. A composition according to claim 1, wherein the organic material is an organic polymer.
- 3. A composition according to claim 1, wherein the organic material is a paint.
- 4. A composition according to claim 1, wherein the organic material is a recording material.
- 5. A composition according to claim 1, wherein polyalkylpiperidine radicals R.sub.7 and R.sub.7 ' are a radical of the formulas IV to XIX: ##STR73## radicals of the formula XIX in compounds of the formula IIa
- --X.sub.1 --R.sub.16 --X.sub.2 --(XIX),
- where radicals of the formulae VIIa and XVIIa are present only in compounds of the formula Ia where A=direct bond or --CH.sub.2 CH(R')O-- and radicals of the formulae VIIb and XVIIb are present in compounds of the formula Ia or IIa in which A and E have the meaning indicated in claim 2, but A is not equal to a direct bond or --CH.sub.2 CH(R')O--, and in which R is methyl or hydrogen, R.sub.8 is hydrogen, oxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkoxy, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alkenyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alkenyloxy, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alkynyl,C.sub.5 -C.sub.6 cycloalkyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.6 cycloalkyloxy, phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkanoyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.5 alkenoyl, --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)R' or phenoxy, R' is hydrogen, methyl or phenyl, R.sub.9 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, allyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.6 cycloalkyl, phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.18 alkyl interrupted by one or more --O-- or a group of the formula IIIa ##STR74## Q is --O--C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 alkylene or --NR.sub.9 --C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 alkylene if A or E has the meaning indicated, but A is not equal to a direct bond or --CH.sub.2 CH(R')O--, or in compounds of the formula Ia, Q is C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 alkylene if A is a direct bond or --CH.sub.2 CH(R')O--, or is a direct bond if A is --CH.sub.2 CH(R')O--, Q.sub.1 is a direct bond, --O--C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 alkylene or --NR.sub.9 --C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 alkylene if A or E has the meaning indicated, but A is not equal to a direct bond or --CH.sub.2 CH(R')O--, or in compounds of the formula Ia, Q.sub.1 is C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 alkylene if A is a direct bond or --CH.sub.2 CH(R')O--, or --OCO--C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 alkylene if A in compounds of the formula Ia is --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 -- or E in formula IIa is --(CH.sub.2).sub.r --, Q.sub.2 is a direct bond or --NR.sub.9 --C .sub.2 -C.sub.12 alkylene if A or E have the meaning indicated, but A is unequal to a direct bond or --CH.sub.2 CH(R')O--, or in compounds of the formula Ia, Q.sub.2 is --CO--C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 alkylene if A is a direct bond or --CH.sub.2 CH(R')O--, or is --OCO--C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkylene or --OCO--C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkylene-CO- if A in formula Ia is --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 -- or E in formula IIa is --(CH.sub.2).sub.r --, q is 2-12, and X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 independently of one another are --O-- or --R.sub.9 N--, ##STR75## and Y has the same meaning as X or is C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkoxy or --NR.sub.9 R.sub.10, R.sub.10 can have the same meaning as R.sub.9 or, together with R.sub.9 and the bonding N atom, forms a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring, Q.sub.3 is a direct bond if A in formula Ia is --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 -- or E in formula IIa is a direct bond or --(CH.sub.2).sub.r --, or Q.sub.3 is --OCH(R')CH.sub.2 -- if A or E has the abovementioned meaning, but A is not equal to a direct bond or --CH.sub.2 CH(R')O--,or Q.sub.3 in compounds of the formula Ia is --CH(R')CH.sub.2 -- if A is a direct bond or --CH.sub.2 CH(R')O--, R.sub.11 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkoxy, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alkenyloxy or benzyloxy and R.sub.12 can have the same meaning as R.sub.11 or R.sub.11 and R.sub.12 together are -- O--C.sub.2 -C.sub.8 alkylene--O--, or if R.sub.11 =H, R.sub.12 is --OH or --NR.sub.9 --CO--R.sub.13, R.sub.13 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, C.sub.2 C.sub.4 alkenyl or phenyl, Q.sub.4 is C.sub.2 -C.sub.8 alkylene or ##STR76## v is the number 1 if A or E have the meaning indicated, but A is not equal to a direct bond or --CH.sub.2 CH(R')O--, or v in compounds of the formula Ia is zero if a is a direct bond or --CH.sub.2 CH(R')O--, Q.sub.5 is --OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 -- or --OCH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 -- if A or E has the meaning indicated, but A is unequal to a direct bond or --CH.sub.2 CH(R')O--, or in compounds of the formula Ia, Q.sub.5 is --CO(CH.sub.2).sub.2 --, or --CO(CH.sub.2).sub.3 -- if A is a direct bond or --CH.sub.2 CH(R')O--, Q.sub.5 is a direct bond if A is --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 --, or Q.sub.5 is --OCO(CH.sub.2).sub.s -- where s=1-4 if A in formula Ia is --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 -- or E in formula IIa is --(CH.sub.2).sub.r --, T.sub.1 and T.sub.2 independently of one another are hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or phenyl or naphthyl which are unsubstituted or substituted by halogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, or T.sub.1 and T.sub.2, together with the C atom bonding them, form a C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 cycloalkane ring, R.sub.14 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl, allyl, benzyl or C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkoxyalkyl, R.sub.15 is C.sub.2 -C.sub.15 alkylene which can be interrupted by one or more O atoms, --CH.sub.2 CH.dbd.CHCH.sub.2 --, xylylene or --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 O(CH.sub.2).sub.t/2 ].sub.2 where t=1-6, and R.sub.16 is C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 alkylene, phenylene, naphthylene, biphenylene, xylylene, a group --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 --, the divalent radical of an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic dicarboxylic acid or --CO--.
- 6. A composition according to claim 1 wherein in component (b), R is hydrogen, R' is hydrogen or methyl and m and s are each the number 1 and R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 and also R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 in pairs each have the same meaning.
- 7. A composition according to claim 1, where in component (b),R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 also R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 in pairs are each hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are each hydrogen.
- 8. A composition according to claim 1, where in component (b), R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, in formula Ia are each hydrogen, --OH or methyl, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are each hydrogen, --OH or methyl, and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are each hydrogen.
- 9. A composition according to claim 1, where in component (b), R.sub.3 and R.sub.4, in formula IIa are each hydrogen, alkoxy having 1-8 C atoms or a radical --O--A--R.sub.7 ' and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are each hydrogen.
- 10. A composition according to claim 5, wherein R.sub.8 is hydrogen, oxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alkenyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alkynyl, phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkanoyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alkenoyl or --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)R'.
- 11. A composition according to claim 5, wherein R.sub.9 and R.sub.10 independently of one another are hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl, allyl, cyclohexyl, benzyl or a group of the formula IIIa, in which R is hydrogen and R.sub.8 is hydrogen, oxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alkenyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alkynyl, phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkanoyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alkenoyl or --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)R'.
- 12. A composition according to claim 5, wherein A and E, of formula Ia or IIa, are --CH.sub.2 CO--, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 also R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 in pairs are each hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are each hydrogen, R.sub.7 and R.sub.7 ' are a radical of the formula V or XI, Q.sub.1 is a direct bond, R.sub.8 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, benzyl, allyl, acetyl or acryloyl, v is the number 1 and R' is hydrogen, methyl or phenyl.
- 13. A composition according to claim 5, wherein E, of formula IIa, is --CH.sub.2 CO--, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are each hydrogen or methyl, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are each hydrogen and R.sub.7 ' is a radical of the formula V, in which Q.sub.1 is a direct bond and R.sub.8 is hydrogen, methyl, benzyl, allyl or acetyl.
- 14. A composition according to claim 5, wherein A, of formula Ia, is --CH.sub.2 CO--, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each hydrogen or each methyl, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are each methyl and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are each hydrogen and R.sub.7 is a radical of the formula V or XI, in which Q.sub.1 is a direct bond, R.sub.8 is hydrogen, methyl, benzyl, allyl or acetyl, v is the number 1 and R' is hydrogen or methyl.
- 15. A composition according to claim 5, wherein A, of formula Ia, is --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 --, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 also R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 in pairs are each hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are each hydrogen, R.sub.7 is a radical of the formula V or VIII, Q.sub.1 and Q.sub.3 are a direct bond, R.sub.8 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, benzyl, allyl, acetyl or --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)R', R.sub.11 is hydrogen and R.sub.12 is --OH.
- 16. A composition according to claim 5, wherein A, of formula Ia, is --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 --, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each hydrogen or each methyl, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are each methyl and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are each hydrogen, R.sub.7 is a radical of the formula V or VIII, Q.sub.1 and Q.sub.3 are a direct bond, R.sub.8 is methyl, benzyl, allyl, acetyl or --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.3, R.sub.11 is hydrogen and R.sub.12 is --OH.
