Claims
- 1. A composition which comprises
- (a) a polymeric organic material to be stabilized, and
- (b) 0.005 to 5 percent by weight, based on component (a), of a compound of formula I ##STR14## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each .alpha.-branched C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alkyl,
- A is a group --N(R.sub.3)R.sub.4 (III), wherein
- R.sub.3 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.22 alkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.21 oxa- or thiaalkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.18 alkenyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.18 alkynyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 hydroxyalkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.24 alkoxycarbonylalkyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 cycloalkyl, C.sub.6 -C.sub.14 aryl, C.sub.7 -C.sub.15 alkaryl, C.sub.7 -C.sub.15 aralkyl, a C.sub.5 -C.sub.17 piperidin-4-yl group or said group substituted by up to five methyl or ethyl groups; or a group of the formula II ##STR15## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 have the meanings given above, R.sub.4 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.22 alkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.21 oxa- or thiaalkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.18 alkenyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.18 alkynyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 hydroxyalkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.24 alkoxycarbonylalkyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 cycloalkyl, C.sub.6 -C.sub.14 aryl, C.sub.7 -C.sub.15 alkaryl, C.sub.7 -C.sub.15 aralkyl, a C.sub.5 -C.sub.17 piperidin-4-yl group or said group substituted by up to five methyl or ethyl groups; a group of the formula IV ##STR16## wherein R.sub.3 has the meaning given above,
- n is 0 or 1,
- R.sub.5 is C.sub.2 -C.sub.22 alkylene; C.sub.4 -C.sub.22 alkenylene, C.sub.4 -C.sub.22 alkynylene or C.sub.5 -C.sub.9 cycloalkylene, each of which can be interrupted with one or two oxygen or sulfur atoms, or R.sub.5 is a group of the formula VI ##STR17## in which R.sub.6 is --O--, --S-- or --(R.sub.7)C(R.sub.8)--, wherein R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 independently of one another are hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl, or R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 together with the C atom to which they are attached form C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 cycloalkyl, or R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 together are 1,4-cyclohexylenedimethylene or 1,3,3-trimethylcyclohexylene-1,5, or R.sub.5 is also phenylene, biphenylene or a group of the formula ##STR18## wherein R.sub.6 has the meaning given above, and r, t and n independently of one another are 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6,
- m is 0, 1, 2 or 3,
- Q is a group of the formula II, wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 have the meanings given above, or
- R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together with the N atom to which they are attached form a pyrrolidine, oxazolidine, piperidine or morpholine ring; or said pyrrolidine, said oxazolidine, said piperidine or said morpholine substituted by up to five methyl or ethyl groups; or R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together form the radical --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --N(Q)--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 -- wherein Q has the meaning given above.
- 2. A composition according to claim 1 where in the compound of formula I
- R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each .alpha.-branched C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alkyl,
- A is a group --N(R.sub.3)R.sub.4 (III), wherein
- R.sub.3 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 alkenyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 alkynyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.24 alkoxycarbonylmethyl or -ethyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 cycloalkyl, phenyl, benzyl, C.sub.7 -C.sub.15 alkaryl; a C.sub.5 -C.sub.17 piperidin-4-yl group or said group substituted by up to five methyl or ethyl groups; or a group of the formula II, wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 have the meaning given above,
- R.sub.4 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 alkenyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 alkynyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.24 alkoxycarbonylmethyl or -ethyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 cycloalkyl, phenyl, benzyl, C.sub.7 -C.sub.15 alkaryl; a C.sub.5 -C.sub.17 piperidin-4-yl group or said group substituted by up to five methyl or ethyl groups; a group of the formula IV or V, wherein R.sub.3 has the meaning given above,
- n is 0 or 1,
- R.sub.5 is C.sub.2 -C.sub.9 alkylene which can be interrupted with one or two oxygen or sulfur atoms, or it is cyclohexylene, or a group of the formula VI, wherein
- R.sub.6 is --O--, --S-- or --(R.sub.7)C(R.sub.8)--, wherein
- R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 independently of one another are hydrogen or methyl, or
- R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 together with the C atom to which they are attached form cyclohexylene, or
- R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 together are 1,4-cyclohexylenedimethylene or 1,3,3-trimethyl-cyclohexylene-1,5,
- r, t and n are 2 or 3,
- m is 0 or 1,
- Q is a group of the formula II, wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 have the meanings given above, or
- R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together with the N atom to which they are attached form a pyrrolidine, oxazolidine, piperidine or morpholine ring, or
- R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together are the radical --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --N(Q)--CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 -- wherein Q has the meaning given above.
- 3. A composition according to claim 1 where in the compound of formula I
- R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each .alpha.-branched C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alkyl,
- A is a group --N(R.sub.3)R.sub.4 (III) wherein
- R.sub.3 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, allyl, propargyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.14 alkoxycarbonylmethyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.15 alkoxycarbonylethyl or C.sub.5 -C.sub.8 cycloalkyl,
- R.sub.4 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, allyl, propargyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.14 alkoxycarbonylmethyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.15 alkoxycarbonylethyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.8 cycloalkyl, or a group of the formula IV or V, wherein R.sub.3 has the meaning given above,
- n is 1,
- R.sub.5 is C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkylene,
- r, t and n are 2 or 3,
- m is 0,
- Q is a group of the formula II, wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 have the meanings given above, or
- R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together with the N atom to which they are attached form a piperidine or morpholine ring, or
- R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together are the radical --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --N(Q)--CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 -- wherein Q has the meaning given above.
- 4. A composition according to claim 1 where in the compound of formula I
- R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are .alpha.-branched C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alkyl,
- A is a group --N(R.sub.3)R.sub.4 (III), wherein
- R.sub.3 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl or cyclohexyl,
- R.sub.4 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, cyclohexyl, or a group of the formula IV, wherein R.sub.3 has the meaning given above, and Q is a group of the formula II, wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 have the meanings given above,
- n is 1,
- R.sub.5 is C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkylene, or
- R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together with the N atom to which they are attached form a piperidine or morpholine ring, or
- R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together are the radical --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --N(Q)--CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 -- wherein Q has the meaning given above.
- 5. A composition according to claim 1 where in the compound of formula I R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are tert-butyl or tert-octyl.
- 6. A composition according to claim 1 where in the compound of formula I, A is --N(R.sub.3)R.sub.4 in which R.sub.3 is a piperidin-4-yl group of the formula XI ##STR19## wherein R.sub.9 is hydrogen or methyl, and R.sub.10 is hydrogen, oxyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkenyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 alkynyl, C.sub.7 -C.sub.12 aralkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.21 alkoxyalkyl, an aliphatic acyl group having 1-4 C atoms, or a group --CH.sub.2 COOR.sub.11, in which R.sub.11 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alkenyl, phenyl, C.sub.7 -C.sub.8 aralkyl or cyclohexyl.
- 7. A composition according to claim 6 where in the compound of formula I both R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are each a group of formula XI.
- 8. A composition according to claim 6 where in the compound of formula I R.sub.9 is hydrogen, and R.sub.10 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl, allyl, benzyl or acetyl.
- 9. A composition according to claim 7 where in the compound of formula I R.sub.9 is hydrogen, and R.sub.10 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl, allyl, benzyl or acetyl.
- 10. A composition according to claim 8 wherein R.sub.10 is hydrogen, methyl or acetyl.
- 11. A composition according to claim 9 wherein R.sub.10 is hydrogen, methyl or acetyl.
- 12. A composition according to claim 1 wherein the compound of formula I is N-(2,4,8,10-tetra-tert-butyldibenz[d,f][1,3,2]dioxaphosphepin-6-yl)-dibutylamine.
- 13. A composition according to claim 1 wherein component (a) is a polyolefin.
- 14. A composition which comprises
- (a) a polymeric organic material to be stabilized, and
- (b) 0.005 to 5 percent by weight, based on component (a), of a compound of formula I ##STR20## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each .alpha.-branched C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alkyl,
- A is a group --N(R.sub.3)R.sub.4 (III), wherein
- R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together with the N atom to which they are attached form a pyrrolidine, oxazolidine, piperidine or morpholine ring; or said pyrrolidine, said oxazolidine, said piperidine or said morpholine ring substituted by up to five methyl or ethyl groups; or R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together form the radical --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --N(Q)--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 -- wherein Q is a group of the formula II ##STR21## where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 have the meanings given above.
- 15. A composition according to claim 14 where in the compound of formula I
- R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each .alpha.-branched C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alkyl,
- A is a group --N(R.sub.3)R.sub.4 (III),
- R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together with the N atom to which they are attached form a pyrrolidine, oxozolidine, piperidine or morpholine ring, or
- R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together are the radical --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --N(Q)--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 -- wherein Q is a group of formula II wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 have the meanings given above.
- 16. A composition according to claim 14 where in the compound of formula I
- R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each .alpha.-branched C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alkyl,
- A is a group --N(R.sub.3)R.sub.4 (III) wherein
- R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together with the N atom to which they are attached form a piperidine or morpholine ring, or
- R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together are the radical --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --N(Q)--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 -- wherein Q is a group of formula II wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 have the meanings given above.
- 17. A composition according to claim 14 where in the compound of formula I
- R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are .alpha.-branched C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 alkyl,
- A is a group --N(R.sub.3)R.sub.4 (III), wherein
- R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together with the N atom to which they are attached form a piperidine or morpholine ring, or
- R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together are the radical --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --N(Q)--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 -- wherein Q is a group of formula II wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 have the meanings given above.
- 18. A composition according to claim 14 where in the compound of formula I R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are tert-butyl or tert-octyl.
- 19. A composition according to claim 14 where in the compound of formula I R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together with the N atom to which they are attached form a pyrrolidine, piperidine or morpholine ring; or said pyrrolidine, said piperidine or said morpholine ring substituted by up to five methyl or ethyl groups.
- 20. A composition according to claim 19 where in the compound of formula I R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together with the N atom to which they are attached form a pyrrolidine, piperidine or morpholine ring.
- 21. A composition according to claim 14 where the compound of formula I is N-(2,4,8,10-tetra-tert-butyldibenz[d,f][1,3,2]dioxa- phosphepin-6-yl)-piperidine.
- 22. A composition according to claim 14 wherein component (a) is polyolefin.
