Claims
- 1. A compound of the formula ##STR51## wherein Ar represents a phenyl group of the formula ##STR52## or an alpha- or beta-naphthyl group, Q represents a lower alkanecarboxylic acid ester group of the partial formula ##STR53## in which "alkylene" has from 1 to 4 carbon atoms and in which the alcohol moiety has from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, or represents a lower alkanecarboxylic acid amide group of the partial formula ##STR54## in which "alkylene" has from 1 to 4 carbon atoms and in which the amine moiety is mono-substituted or symmetrically or unsymmetrically di-substituted by a member selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, propynyl and butynyl or in which the amine is mono-substituted by phenyl which is optionally itself substituted by a member defined for R.sub.2 /R.sub.3,
- R.sub.1 represents hydrogen, halogen, lower alkyl, lowwer alkoxy, or a phenoxy group which is in the para position and which is optionally substituted a maximum of twice by halogen, CN, NO.sub.2 or CF.sub.3, and
- R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 independently of one another represent hydrogen, halogen, NO.sub.2, lower alkyl, trifluoromethyl or lower alkoxy.
- 2. A compound according to claim 1, wherein
- R.sub.1 represents hydrogen, or a phenoxy group in para-position, and
- R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 independently of one another represent hydrogen, halogen or lower alkyl.
- 3. A compound according to claim 1 of the formula ##STR55## wherein Q represents a lower alkanecarboxylic acid ester group of the partial formula ##STR56## in which "alkylene" has from 1 to 4 carbon atoms and in which the alcohol moiety has from 1 to 8 carbon atoms or represents a lower alkanecarboxylic acid amide group of the partial formula ##STR57## in which "alkylene" has from 1 to 4 carbon atoms and in which the amine moiety is mono-substituted or symmetrically or unsymmetrically di-substituted by a member selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, propynyl and butynyl or in which the amine is mono-substituted, by phenyl which is optionally itself substituted by a member defined for R.sub.2 /R.sub.3,
- R.sub.2 represents hydrogen, halogen, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy, and
- R.sub.3 represents hydrogen, halogen, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy.
- 4. A compound according to claim 3, wherein
- R.sub.2 represents hydrogen, halogen or lower alkyl, and
- R.sub.3 represents hydrogen, halogen or lower alkyl.
- 5. A compound according to claim 4, wherein
- Q represents methoxycarbonylmethyl, ethoxycarbonylmethyl, methoxycarbonylethyl or ethoxycarbonylethyl, an acetamide or propionamide group optionally substituted on the N atom by one or two lower alkyl, propynyl or butynyl groups,
- R.sub.2 represents hydrogen, halogen or methyl, and
- R.sub.3 represents hydrogen, halogen or methyl.
- 6. A compound according to claim 1 of the formula ##STR58## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 independently of one another represent hydrogen, halogen, NO.sub.2, lower alkyl, trifluoromethyl or lower alkoxy,
- n represents 1, 2 or 3,
- R.sub.9 represents hydrogen or lower alkyl, and R.sub.10 represents --CONH.sub.2, --CO--NH--R.sub.24 in which R.sub.24 represents lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, propynyl or butynyl, --CO--NH--cycloalkyl or ##STR59## in which R.sub.25 represents halogen or loweralkyl and m represents an integer 0, 1, 2 or 3.
- 7. A compound according to claim 6 of the formula ##STR60## wherein R.sub.10 represents --CO--NH.sub.2, --CO--NH-lower alkyl or ##STR61## in which R.sub.25 represents chlorine, bromine or methyl and m represents an integer 0, 1 or 2.
- 8. Alpha-cyanobenzylidene-amino-oxacetamide of the formula ##STR62##
- 9. A compound of the formula ##STR63## wherein R.sub.22 represents chlorine, trifluoromethyl or nitro,
- R.sub.23 represents hydrogen, chlorine or cyano, and
- Q represents --CH.sub.2 --CONH.sub.2, --CH.sub.2 --COOCH.sub.3, --CH(CH.sub.3)--COOCH.sub.3 or --CH.sub.2 --COOC.sub.2 H.sub.5.
- 10. The compound according to claim 9 of the formula ##STR64##
- 11. A composition for promoting plant growth and protecting plants from the effects of herbicides, which composition contains as active ingredient 0.01-90 percent by weight of a compound of claim 1, together with carriers and/or surface-active additives.
- 12. A composition for promoting plant growth and protecting plants from the effects of herbicides, which composition contains as active ingredient 0.01-90 percent by weight of a compound of claim 2, together with carriers and/or surface-active additives.
- 13. A composition for promoting plant growth and protecting plants from the effects of herbicides, which composition contains as active ingredient 0.01-90 percent by weight of a compound of claim 3, together with carriers and/or surface-active additives.
- 14. A composition for promoting plant growth and protecting plants from the effects of herbidides, which composition contains as active ingredient 0.01-90 percent by weight of a compound of claim 4, together with carriers and/or surface-active additives.
- 15. A composition for promoting plant growth and protecting plants from the effects of herbicides, which composition contains as active ingredient 0.01-90 percent by weight of a compound of claim 5, together with carriers and/or surface-active additives.
- 16. A composition for promoting plant growth and protecting plants from the effects of herbicides, which composition contains as active ingredient 0.01-90 percent by weight of a compound of claim 6, together with carriers and/or surface-active additives.
- 17. A composition for promoting plant growth and protecting plants from the effects of herbicides, which composition contains as active ingredient 0.01-90 percent by weight of a compound of claim 7, together with carriers and/or surface-active additives.
- 18. A composition for promoting plant growth and protecting plants from the effects of herbicides, which composition contains as active ingredient 0.01-90 percent by weight of a compound of claim 9, together with carriers and/or surface active additives.
- 19. A process for promoting plant growth by applying to the plant, to a part thereof or to the habitat thereof, a growth promoting effective amount of a compound according to claim 1.
- 20. A process for promoting plant growth by applying to the plant, to a part thereof or to the habitat thereof, a growth promoting effective amount of a compound according to claim 2.
- 21. A process for promoting plant growth by applying to the plant, to a part thereof or to the habitat thereof, a growth promoting effective amount of a compound according to claim 3.
- 22. A process for promoting plant growth by applying to the plant, to a part thereof or to the habitat thereof, a growth promoting effective amount of a compound according to claim 4.
- 23. A process for promoting plant growth by applying to the plant, to a part thereof or to the habitat thereof, a growth promoting effective amount of a compound according to claim 5.
- 24. A process for promoting plant growth by applying to the plant, to a part thereof or to the habitat thereof, a growth promoting effective amount of a compound according to claim 6.

- 29. A process according to claim 19, in which the plant seed or the germinated seed is treated.
- 30. A process according to claim 29 for the treatment of sorghum-millet.
- 31. A process according to claim 29 for the treatment of rice.
- 32. A process according to claim 29 for the treatment of maize.
- 33. A process according to claim 29 for the treatment of wheat, rye, barley or oats.
- 34. A process according to claim 29 for the treatment of soya beans.
- 35. A process according to claim 29 for the treatment of cotton.
- 36. A process according to claim 29 for the treatment of sugar beet.
