Claims
- 1. A process for producing a compound of the formula ##STR2## and which is characterized by an infrared absorption spectrum substantially as shown in FIG. 1, an ultraviolet absorption spectrum substantially shown in FIG. 2, a molecular weight of 494 determined by mass spectrometry and a molecular formula of C.sub.27 H.sub.26 O.sub.9, which comprises culturing a microorganism belonging to the genus Streptomyces which is capable of producing said compound, in a nutrient medium until substantial antibacterial activity is detected in the culture liquor and thereafter recovering said compound therefrom.
- 2. A process according to claim 1 wherein said microorganism has the identifying characteristics of Streptomyces gilvotanareus NRRL 11382.
- 3. A process according to claim 1 wherein said microorganism has the identifying characteristics of Streptomyces griseologilbus NRRL 11383.
- 4. A process according to claim 1 wherein said culturing step is carried out at 28.degree. to 38.degree. C. and at a pH of from 6 to 8 for 1 to 7 days.
