Claims
- 1. A narrow or mono-dispersed condensation polymer of an aromatic sulfonic acid and aldehyde or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or prodrug thereof, wherein the aromatic sulfonic acid is a naphthalene sulfonic acid, the aldehyde is formaldehyde and the peak molecular weight is between about 4 kDa and about 50 kDa.
- 2. The polymer of claim 1 wherein the peak molecular weight is between about 4 kDa to about 30 kDa.
- 3. The polymer of claim 2 wherein the peak molecular weight is about 5 kDa.
- 4. The polymer of claim 2 wherein the therapeutic ratio is at least about 7.
- 5. The polymer of claim 4 wherein the therapeutic ratio is at least about 20.
- 6. The polymer of claim 1, wherein the mono-dispersed polymer consists essentially of species with substantially the same mean molecular weight.
- 7. The polymer of claim 3, wherein the narrow-dispersed polymer has a mean molecular weight of about 5 kDa.+-.1kDa.
- 8. The polymer of claim 3, wherein the mono-dispersed polymer consists essentially of species with substantially the same mean molecular weight.
- 9. The polymer of claim 1 wherein the peak molecular weight is between about 4 kDa to about 12 kDa.
