Claims
- 1. A compound of the formula III or IV wherein X is selected from substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted aryl, substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl groups of 1-20 carbon atoms, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl carboxyl groups having from 1-20 carbon atoms, tri(C1-C8 alkyl)silyl groups, a SO3− group and glycosyl groups, Q is selected from NR6, O and S atoms, each of R2 to R5 is a substituent containing from 1 to 50 atoms selected from C, H, N, O, S, P, Si and halogen atoms and wherein pairs of adjacent groups can be joined together to form a carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring system comprising at least one 5 or 6-membered ring and wherein R6 is an organic group containing from 1 to 50 atoms non-hydrogen atoms selected from C, N, O, S, P, Si and halogen atoms provided that R6 is not a trimethylsilyl group, Z1 and Z2 are independently selected from O and S atoms and R1 is an organic group containing from 1 to 50 non-hydrogen atoms selected from C, N, O, S, P, Si and halogen atoms.
- 2. The compound of claim 1 wherein, in the compound of formula III Z2 is oxygen, Q is the NR6 group and having the formula: wherein each of to R7 to R14 is independently a substituent which can contain from 1 to 50 atoms selected from C, H, N, O, S, P, Si and halogen atoms.
- 3. The compound of claim 2 wherein at least one of R7 to R14 is a halogen or an alkoxy group and the remaining of R7 to R14 are hydrogen.
- 4. The compound of claim 3 wherein R6 is selected from C1-C4 substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted benzyl, alkoxyalkyl and carboxyalkyl groups.
- 5. The compound of claim 2 having the formula: wherein R15 is a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl group having from 1-20 carbon atoms.
- 6. The compound of claim 5 wherein each of R7 to R14 is a hydrogen atom and R15 is methyl.
- 7. The compound of claim 1 wherein, in the compound of formula III, Q is the S atom, and having the formula: wherein X is selected from substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted aryl, substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl groups of 1-20 carbon atoms, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl carboxyl groups having from 1-20 carbon atoms, tri(C1-C8 alkyl)silyl groups, an SO3− group and glycosyl groups, Z1 and Z2 are independently selected from O and S atoms and R1 is an organic group containing from 1 to 50 non-hydrogen atoms selected from C, N, O, S, P, Si and halogen atoms.
- 8. The compound of claim 1 wherein, in the compound of formula III, Q is the O atom, and having the formula: wherein X is selected from substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted aryl, substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl groups of 1-20 carbon atoms, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl carboxyl groups having from 1-20 carbon atoms, tri(C1-C8 alkyl)silyl groups, an SO3− group and glycosyl groups, Z1 and Z2 are independently selected from O and S atoms and R1 is an organic group containing from 1 to 50 non-hydrogen atoms selected from C, N, O, S, P, Si and halogen atoms.
- 9. The compound of claim 1 wherein Z1 and Z2 are both sulfur atoms.
