Claims
- 1. A method for conducting multiple telephone calls with a user, comprising:associating a call object with each telephone call to which the user is a party; and displaying each call object on a display, wherein each call object comprises a status region and a call detail region, said call status region displaying a call state, call duration and hold duration for said telephone call associated with said call object and said call detail region displaying at least one phone function button for executing a valid phone function on said associated telephone call.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein said at least one call detail is displayed in said call detail region of said call object.
- 3. The method of claim 2 wherein a call state, call duration, and hold duration are displayed in said status region of said call object.
- 4. The method of claim 3 wherein said at least one telephone function button is displayed in said call detail region of said call object.
- 5. The method of claim 4 wherein said call object associated with an inactive telephone call is displayed with a shaded background.
- 6. The method of claim 5 wherein said call object associated with an active telephone call is displayed with a highlighted background.
- 7. The method of claim 6 wherein said inactive telephone call is made active by selecting said call object associated with said inactive telephone call.
- 8. The method of claim 7 wherein said call object can be displayed in expanded or compressed mode.
- 9. The method of claim 8 wherein said call object displayed in expanded mode has a display number limit of eight call details.
- 10. The method of claim 9 wherein said call object displayed in compressed mode has a display number limit of five call details.
- 11. The method of claim 10 wherein said call details are assigned a hierarchical value based on the type of call detail; anddisplaying said call details in said call detail region of said call object in descending hierarchical order.
- 12. The method of claim 11 wherein said call details exceeding said display number limit having lower hierarchical values are truncated.
- 13. The method of claim 12 wherein said user can selectively display said call objects in said expanded or compressed mode.
- 14. The method of claim 13 wherein said user can set defaults such that said call objects will be displayed in expanded or compressed mode base on said state of said associated telephone calls.
- 15. The method of claim 14 wherein a user selected call object will remain in the user selected expanded or compressed mode when said state of said associated telephone call changes.
- 16. The method of claim 7 wherein said call details are assigned a hierarchical value based on the type of call detail; anddisplaying said call details in said call detail region of said call object in descending hierarchical order.
- 17. The method of claim 16 wherein said call details exceeding a display number limit having lower hierarchical values are truncated.
- 18. The method of claim 8 wherein said user can selectively display said call objects in said expanded or compressed mode.
- 19. The method of claim 18 wherein said user can set defaults such that said call objects will be displayed in expanded or compressed mode based on said state of said associated telephone calls.
- 20. The method of claim 19 wherein a user selected call object will remain in the selected expanded or compressed mode when said state of said associated telephone call changes.
- 21. A system for conducting multiple telephone calls with a user, comprising:a call object associated with each telephone call to which the user is a party wherein each call object comprises a call status region and a call detail region, said call status region configured to display a call state, call duration and hold duration for said telephone call associated with said call object and said call detail region configured to display at least one phone function button for executing a valid phone function on said associated telephone call; and a display for displaying each call object.
- 22. The system of claim 21 wherein said call object associated with an inactive telephone call is displayed with a shaded background.
- 23. The system of claim 22 wherein said call object associated with an active telephone call is displayed with a highlighted background.
- 24. The system of claim 23 wherein said inactive telephone call is made active by selecting said call object associated with said inactive telephone call.
- 25. The system of claim 24 wherein said call details are assigned a hierarchical value based on the type of call detail; anddisplaying said call details in said call detail region of said call object in descending hierarchical order.
- 26. The system of claim 25 wherein said call details exceeding a display number limit having lower hierarchical values are truncated.
- 27. The system of claim 24 wherein said call object can be displayed in expanded or compressed mode.
- 28. The system of claim 27 wherein said user can selectively display said call objects in said expanded or compressed mode.
- 29. The system of claim 28 wherein said user can set defaults such that said call objects will be displayed in expanded or compressed mode base on said state of said associated telephone calls.
- 30. The system of claim 29 wherein a user selected call object will remain in the user selected expanded or compressed mode when said state of said associated telephone call changes.
- 31. The system of claim 27 wherein said call object displayed in expanded mode has a display number limit of eight call details.
- 32. The system of claim 31 wherein said call object displayed in compressed mode has a display number limit of five call details.
- 33. The system of claim 32 wherein said call details are assigned a hierarchical value based on the type of call detail; anddisplaying said call details in said call detail region of said call object in descending hierarchical order.
- 34. The system of claim 33 wherein said call details exceeding said display number limit having lower hierarchical values are truncated.
- 35. The system of claim 34 wherein said user can selectively display said call objects in said expanded or compressed mode.
- 36. The system of claim 35 wherein said user can set defaults such that said call objects will be displayed in expanded or compressed mode based on said state of said associated telephone calls.
- 37. The system of claim 36 wherein a user selected call object will remain in the user selected expanded or compressed mode when said state of said associated telephone call changes.
