Claims
- 1. Concrete product manufacturing system comprising:
- a. mixer means adapted to continuously receive raw materials, including aggregates, cement and liquids, and to continuously mix said raw materials to form a wet concrete mixture;
- b. receiver means adjacent said mixer means for continuously receiving said wet concrete mixture from said mixer means and maintaining therein a static head above a predetermined limit, the lower portion of said receiver means forming a preload area into which a portion of said wet concrete mixture may be precompacted by the static head exerted by said wet concrete mixture in said receiver means; and
- c. mold means adjacent said receiver means for repeatedly receiving charges of said precompacted wet concrete mixture from said preload area of said receiver means to form precured concrete products;
- d. said mold means and said receiver means being mounted for reciprocable movement, relative to each other, from a first position in which said mold means is directly beneath said preload area of said receiver means to a second position in which said mold means is not beneath said receiver means, said receiver means being in a position at all times to receive wet concrete mixture from said mixer means to maintain said static head therein.
- 2. Concrete product manufacturing system as set forth in claim 1 comprising plate means directly below said preload area of said receiver means, when said receiver means is in said first position, blocking discharge of said precompacted wet concrete mixture therefrom but unblocking said discharge, when said receiver means is in said second position, to allow said receiving of charges of said precompacted wet concrete mixture by said mold means.
- 3. Concrete product manufacturing system as set forth in claim 2 in which said mold means comprises a mold box having a plurality of cavities therein, the bottoms of which are formed by plunger means, said plunger means being movable, when said receiver means is in said second position, from a first position in which said plunger means is level with said plate means to a second position in which said plunger means is substantially one thickness of said precured concrete products therebelow, for creating a partial vacuum for combining with said static head in said receiver means to force said precompacted wet concrete mixture into said mold cavities to form precured concrete products of the desired density with application of external pressure other than said partial vacuum and said static head.
- 4. Concrete product manufacturing system as set forth in claim 3 in which said preload area of said receiver means is provided with transverse and longitudinal partitions forming a false mold substantially identical in cross-section to said mold box so that said precompacted wet concrete mixture in said preload area of said receiver means is substantially preformed as it is discharged into said mold means.
- 5. Concrete product manufacturing system as set forth in claim 4 in which said transverse partitions are fixed relative to said receiver means, said longitudinal partitions being fixed relative to said mold means, said transverse partitions being provided with slots in which said longitudinal partitions reciprocate relative thereto.
- 6. Concrete product manufacturing system as set forth in claim 3 in which said plunger means is movable from said second position, after said wet concrete mixture charges are received and after said receiver means is returned to said first position, to said first position to eject said precured concrete products from said mold means.
- 7. Concrete product manufacturing system as set forth in claim 3 in which said mold means includes vibrator means for vibrating said mold means as said wet concrete mixture charges are being received to aid in densifying said precured concrete products.
