Claims
- 1. A method of forming a structure, comprising:
a. positioning a longitudinally-extending side panel substantially upright, the side panel having an interior surface and a web member partially disposed therein so that a portion of the web member extends through the interior surface, wherein the portion of the web member that extends through the interior surface of the side panels forms an attachment point; b. positioning a longitudinally-extending sheet substantially upright, the sheet having an inside surface, wherein a portion of the interior surface of the side panel faces a portion of the inside surface of the sheet and the interior and inside surfaces are laterally spaced apart from each other so that a cavity is formed therebetween, and wherein the attachment point of the web member is disposed within the cavity and spaced apart from the inside surface of the sheet; c. attaching a first end of a connector to the attachment point of the side panel, the connector having an opposed second end; and d. connecting a portion of the inside surface of the sheet to the second end of the connector.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the sheet is directly connected to the second end of the connector.
- 3. The method of claim 2, wherein the sheet is detachably connected to the second end of the connector.
- 4. The method of claim 3, wherein a spacer is disposed intermediate the second end of the connector and the inside surface of the sheet.
- 5. The method of claim 4, wherein the spacer is cone-shaped in side view.
- 6. The method of claim 1, wherein the first end of the connector is detachably connected to the attachment point.
- 7. The method of claim 6, wherein the first end of the connector is of a shape to complementarily and removably engage the attachment point.
- 8. The method of claim 1, wherein the first end of the connector is attached to the attachment point before positioning the sheet.
- 9. The method of claim 1, wherein the sheet is positioned before the first end of the connector is attached to the attachment point.
- 10. The method of claim 1, wherein a portion of the web member is integrally formed into the side panel.
- 11. The method of claim 1, wherein the web member is constructed of a plastic comprising high-density polyethylene or high-density polypropylene.
- 12. The method of claim 1, further comprising, after connecting a portion of the inside surface of the sheet to the second end of the connector, pouring fluid concrete into the cavity and allowing the concrete to substantially cure to form a concrete slab.
- 13. The method of claim 1, wherein the sheet is detachably connected to the second end of the connector and further comprising, after connecting a portion of the inside surface of the sheet to the second end of the connector, pouring fluid concrete into the cavity and allowing the concrete to substantially cure to form a concrete slab.
- 14. The method of claim 13, further comprising, after allowing the concrete to substantially cure, moving the sheet away from the concrete slab to expose a portion of the concrete slab to atmosphere.
- 15. The method of claim 13, wherein a spacer is disposed intermediate the second end of the connector and the inside surface of the sheet.
- 16. The method of claim 15, wherein the spacer is cone-shaped in side view.
- 17. The method of claim 1, wherein the sheet is indirectly connected to the second end of the connector.
- 18. The method of claim 17, wherein a stand-alone web member is disposed intermediate the sheet and the second end of the connector, wherein the stand-alone web member has an end plate to which the inside surface of the sheet is connected and an attachment point to which the second end of the connector attaches.
- 19. The method of claim 18, wherein at least one spacer is disposed intermediate the end plate of the stand-alone web member and the inside surface of the sheet.
- 20. The method of claim 19, wherein the spacer is cone-shaped in side view.
- 21. The method of claim 1, wherein the sheet is plywood.
- 22. A method of forming a structure, comprising:
a. positioning a longitudinally-extending side panel substantially upright, the side panel having an interior surface and a web member partially disposed therein so that a portion of the web member extends through the interior surface, wherein the portion of the web member that extends through the interior surface of the side panels forms an attachment point that is spaced apart from the interior surface of the side panel; and b. connecting a portion of an inside surface of a sheet to the attachment point so that a portion of the interior surface of the side panel faces a portion of the inside surface of the sheet and the interior and inside surfaces are laterally spaced apart from each other so that a cavity is formed therebetween.
- 23. The method of claim 22, further comprising pouring fluid concrete into the cavity and allowing the concrete to substantially cure to form a concrete slab.
- 24. The method of claim 22, wherein the sheet is detachably connected to the attachment point and further comprising pouring fluid concrete into the cavity and allowing the concrete to substantially cure to form a concrete slab.
- 25. The method of claim 24, further comprising, after allowing the concrete to substantially cure, moving the sheet away from the concrete slab after the concrete substantially cures to expose a portion of the concrete slab to atmosphere.
- 26. The method of claim 22, wherein a spacer is disposed intermediate the attachment point and the inside surface of the sheet.
- 27. The method of claim 26, wherein the spacer is cone-shaped in side view.
- 28. The method of claim 22, wherein a portion of the web member is integrally formed into the side panel.
- 29. The method of claim 22, wherein the web member is constructed of a plastic comprising high-density polyethylene or high-density polypropylene
- 30. The method of claim 22, wherein the sheet is plywood.
- 31. A structure, comprising
a. a longitudinally-extending sheet having an inside surface; b. a longitudinally-extending side panel having an interior surface, wherein a portion of the interior surface of the side panel faces a portion of the inside surface of the sheet and the interior and inside surfaces are laterally spaced apart from each other so that a cavity is formed therebetween; c. at least one web member partially disposed within the side panel so that a portion of the web members extends through its interior surface, wherein the portion of the web member that extends through the interior surface of the side panel forms at least one attachment point that is disposed within the cavity; and d. at least one connector disposed within the cavity, wherein each connector has a first end attached to the attachment point, an opposed second end to which the sheet is connected, and a length extending between the first and second ends.
- 32. The structure of claim 31, wherein the side panel is formed of expanded polystryene.
- 33. The structure of claim 31, wherein the sheet is detachably connected to the second end of the connector.
- 34. The structure of claim 33, further comprising a spacer is disposed intermediate the second end of the connector and the inside surface of the sheet.
- 35. The structure of claim 34, wherein the spacer is cone-shaped in side view.
- 36. The structure of claim 31, wherein the first end of the connector is of a shape to complementarily and removably engage the attachment point.
- 37. The structure of claim 31, wherein a portion of the web member is integrally formed into the side panel.
- 38. The structure of claim 31, wherein the web member is constructed of a plastic comprising high-density polyethylene or high-density polypropylene.
- 39. The structure of claim 31, further comprising a stand-alone web member disposed intermediate the sheet and the second end of the connector, wherein the stand-alone web member has an end plate to which the inside surface of the sheet is connected and an attachment point to which the second end of the connector attaches.
- 40. The structure of claim 39, further comprising at least one spacer disposed intermediate the end plate of the stand-alone web member and the inside surface of the sheet.
- 41. The structure of claim 40, wherein the spacer is cone-shaped in side view.
- 42. The structure of claim 31, wherein the sheet is plywood.
- 43. The structure of claim 31, further comprising concrete disposed intermediate the interior surface of the side panel and the inside surface of the sheet, wherein the concrete is in contact with the interior and inside surfaces.
- 44. The structure of claim 31, wherein the connector and the web member are integrally formed together.
- 45. The structure of claim 31, wherein there are at least two connectors, each connector movable relative to the other connector, wherein the web member comprises at least two spaced-apart attachment points, and wherein the attachment points are oriented substantially upright within the cavity.
- 46. The structure of claim 31, wherein the web member comprises at least four spaced-apart attachment points.
- 47. The structure of claim 31, wherein the side panel has a plurality of web members therein, in which the web members are longitudinally spaced apart a predetermined distance from each other.
- 48. The structure of claim 31, wherein the connector is selected from a plurality of connectors having different lengths.
