Claims
- 1. A process of preparing a disk drive conductive grease for use in a closed hard disk drive apparatus comprising the steps of:
- mixing an antistatic additive with a non-ferrous oil lubricant until said antistatic additive dissolves therein;
- adding a thickener to form a conductive grease, wherein said anti-static additive is a conducting polyaniline derivative made soluble with long chain organic acid or hydrocarbon side chain having the basic chemical structure: ##STR2## where R is selected from the group consisting of dodecyl benzyl and camphor; R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of H, alkyl, benzyl, and allyl; and R.sub.2 is selected from the group consisting of H, alkyl, alkoxy, and halide; where 0<x/y<1.
- 2. A process of preparing a disk drive conductive grease for use in a closed hard disk drive apparatus comprising the steps of:
- mixing an antistatic additive in a cosolvent until dissolution;
- after dissolution, adding the mixture to a fully formulated grease; and evaporating said cosolvent, wherein said anti-static additive is a conducting polyaniline derivative made soluble with long chain organic acid or hydrocarbon side chain having the basic chemical structure: ##STR3## where R is selected from the group consisting of dodecyl benzyl and camphor; R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of H, alkyl, benzyl, and allyl; and R.sub.2 is selected from the group consisting of H, alkyl, alkoxy, and halide; where 0<x/y<1.
- 3. A process of preparing a disk drive conductive grease for use in a closed hard disk drive apparatus comprising the steps of:
- mixing an antistatic additive directly with a fully formulated grease; and
- heating and stirring said mixture until a homogenous mixture is obtained, wherein said anti-static additive is a conducting polyaniline derivative made soluble with long chain organic acid or hydrocarbon side chain having the basic chemical structure: ##STR4## where R is selected from the group consisting of dodecyl benzyl and camphor; R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of H, alkyl, benzyl, and allyl; and R.sub.2 is selected from the group consisting of H, alkyl, alkoxy, and halide; where 0<x/y<1.
