Claims
- 1. A connector assembly, comprising:
- a tubular conduit including a first end having first and second annular projections disposed a predetermined distance from said first end;
- a retainer element including primary latching means releasably engageable with said first annular projection and secondary latching means extending from and attached to said primary latching means;
- means for sealing the connector assembly; and
- a housing for receiving said first end of said tubular conduit, said housing including at least one blocking wall,
- whereby upon fully inserting said tubular conduit within said housing, said primary latching means engage said first annular projection of said tubular conduit and said secondary latching means engage said second annular projection of said tubular conduit.
- 2. The connector assembly according to claim 1, wherein said retainer element includes an annular collar and at least one deformable leg for maintaining a fluid conveying connection between said tubular conduit and said housing, said at least one deformable leg including means for engaging said housing, said means for engaging said housing including a radially outwardly extending tab and a radially outwardly extending flange separated by a channel, whereby said extending tab abuttingly engages said blocking wall on said housing.
- 3. The connector assembly according to claim 2, wherein said secondary latching means include a pair of axially formed arms having ends, said ends having means for locking formed thereon.
- 4. The connector assembly according to claim 3, wherein said secondary latching means further comprise at least one hook member including an elongated leg and incurved end portion.
- 5. The connector assembly according to claim 4, wherein said secondary latching means include first and second hook members.
- 6. The connector assembly according to claim 5, wherein said first and second hook members are disposed diametrically opposite each other and extend in the same direction.
- 7. The connector assembly according to claim 3, wherein said deformable leg of said retainer element is coplanar with said pair of axially formed arms of said secondary latching means.
- 8. A connector assembly, comprising:
- A tubular conduit including a first end having first and second annular projections disposed a predetermined distance from said first end;
- means for sealing the connector assembly;
- a housing for receiving said first end of said tubular conduit, said housing including at least one blocking wall; and
- a retainer element including:
- (a) an annular collar;
- (b) at least one deformable leg for maintaining a fluid conveying connection between said tubular conduit and said housing, said at least one deformable leg including means for engaging said housing; and
- (c) a secondary latching means extending from and attached to said at least one deformable leg;
- whereby upon fully inserting said tubular conduit within said housing, said secondary latching means engage said second annular projection of said tubular conduit.
- 9. The connector assembly according to claim 8, wherein said means for engaging said housing includes a radially outwardly extending tab and a radially outwardly extending flange separated by a channel, whereby said extending tab abuttingly engages said blocking wall on said housing.
- 10. The connector assembly according to claim 9, wherein said secondary latching means include a pair of axially formed arms having ends, said ends having means for locking formed thereon.
- 11. The connector assembly according to claim 10, wherein said secondary latching means further comprise at least one hook member including an elongated leg and an incurved end portion.
- 12. The connector assembly according to claim 11, wherein said secondary latching means include first and second hook members.
- 13. The connector assembly according to claim 12, wherein said first and second hook members are disposed diametrically opposite each other and extend in the same direction.
- 14. The connector assembly according to claim 10, wherein said deformable leg of said retainer element is coplanar with said pair of axially formed arms of said secondary latching means.
- 15. A connector assembly, comprising:
- a tubular conduit including a first end having first and second annular projections disposed a predetermined distance from said first end;
- a retainer element releasably engageable with said first annular projection of said tubular conduit;
- means for sealing the connector assembly;
- a housing for receiving said first end of said tubular conduit, said housing including at least one blocking wall; and
- a secondary latching mechanism including an annular ring;
- whereby upon fully inserting said tubular conduit within said housing, said secondary latching mechanism engages said second annular projection of said tubular conduit.
- 16. The connector assembly according to claim 15, wherein said retainer element includes an annular collar and at least one selectively deformable leg extending from said annular collar for engaging said blocking wall of said housing.
- 17. The connector assembly according to claim 16, wherein said secondary latching mechanism includes at least one selectively deformable hook member extending from said annular ring.
- 18. The connector assembly according to claim 17, wherein said at least one selectively deformable hook member includes an elongated leg and an incurved end portion.
- 19. The connector assembly according to claim 18, wherein said first and second hook members are disposed diametrically opposite each other and extend in the same direction from said annular ring.
- 20. The connector assembly according to claim 19, wherein said at least one selectively deformable leg extending from said annular collar of said retainer element is positioned at approximately a ninety-degree offset with respect to said at least one selectively deformable hook member extending from said annular ring of said secondary latching mechanism.
