This application claims the benefit of the filing date under 35 U.S.C. § 119(a)-(d) of Chinese Patent Application No. 202121175669.6, filed on May 28, 2021.
The present invention relates to a connector and a connector assembly including the connector.
In the prior art, in order to lock a connector to a mating connector, an elastic latch is usually formed on the housing of the connector. The elastic latch comprises an elastic cantilever and a protrusion formed on the elastic cantilever. The protrusion engages with a step part formed on a mating housing of the mating connector to lock the housing of the connector and the mating housing of the mating connector.
In the prior art, the fixed end of the elastic cantilever of the elastic latch is usually in the shape of a semi-circular ring, and the fixed end of the semi-circular ring is directly connected to the surface of the housing. The strength of this connection structure of elastic latch is insufficient and cannot meet the special applications requiring large locking force.
A connector includes a housing and an elastic latch. The elastic latch includes an elastic cantilever having a free end, a fixed end connected to the housing, and a main part extending between the free end and the fixed end. The fixed end has an inclined surface extending inclined with respect to a surface of the housing. An angle between the inclined surface and the surface of the housing is greater than 90 degrees.
The invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying Figures, of which:
Exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure will be described hereinafter in detail with reference to the attached drawings, wherein like reference numerals refer to like elements. The present disclosure may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as being limited to the embodiments set forth herein; rather, these embodiments are provided so that the present disclosure will convey the concept of the disclosure to those skilled in the art.
In the following detailed description, for purposes of explanation, numerous specific details are set forth to provide a thorough understanding of the disclosed embodiments. It will be apparent, however, that one or more embodiments may be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, well-known structures and devices are schematically shown to simplify the drawing.

In an embodiment, the housing 110 and the elastic latch 120 are integrally formed into a single piece, for example, by injection molding.
As shown in
In the shown embodiment, a plurality of terminal slots 112 extending along the longitudinal direction of the connector 100 are formed on the housing 110 of the connector 100. The connector 100 also includes a plurality of terminals, which are respectively inserted into the plurality of terminal slots 112. The plurality of terminals is adapted to respectively mate with a plurality of mating terminals 230 of the mating connector 200.
As shown in
In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, there is also provided a connector assembly. The connector assembly comprises the above connector 100 and the mating connector 200 suitable for mating with the connector 100.
It should be appreciated for those skilled in this art that the above embodiments are intended to be illustrative, and not restrictive. For example, many modifications may be made to the above embodiments by those skilled in this art, and various features described in different embodiments may be freely combined with each other without conflicting in configuration or principle. Although several exemplary embodiments have been shown and described, it would be appreciated by those skilled in the art that various changes or modifications may be made in these embodiments without departing from the principles and spirit of the disclosure, the scope of which is defined in the claims and their equivalents.
As used herein, an element recited in the singular and proceeded with the word “a” or “an” should be understood as not excluding plural of said elements or steps, unless such exclusion is explicitly stated. Furthermore, references to “one embodiment” of the present invention are not intended to be interpreted as excluding the existence of additional embodiments that also incorporate the recited features. Moreover, unless explicitly stated to the contrary, embodiments “comprising” or “having” an element or a plurality of elements having a particular property may include additional such elements not having that property.
