Claims
- 1. A method of depositing a casting material on a carrier surface, comprising the steps of:
providing the casting material to a casting head cavity, the casting head cavity having an aperture in communication with the carrier surface and forming a gap for egress of the casting material between a doctor blade and the carrier surface; displacing the carrier surface relative to the cavity to deposit the casting material on the carrier surface; and displacing a casting head cavity surface to control a pressure of the casting material in a region proximate the carrier surface.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the steps of displacing the carrier surface and displacing the casting head surface are performed simultaneously.
- 3. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of:
computing a pre-determined carrier surface displacement program; and displacing the carrier surface according to the pre-determined surface displacement program.
- 4. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of displacing the casting head cavity surface to control a pressure of the casting material comprises the step of displacing the casting head cavity surface to control a level of the casting material.
- 5. The method of claim 4, wherein the method further comprises the step of measuring the casting material level, and the step of displacing the casting head surface to control the level of the casting material comprises the step of displacing the casting head cavity surface according to the measured casting material level.
