Claims
- 1. A method to lure and kill insects at a desired location comprising the steps of
a) inserting a mixture of an insecticide and a pheromone into a capsule; b) delivering the filled capsules at the desired location in a manner whereby the filled capsules impact upon the desired location and liberate the insecticide and pheromone.
- 2. A method according to claim 1 wherein said mixture includes an insect repellant.
- 3. A method to lure and kill insects at a desired location comprising the steps of
a) inserting an insecticide into a first capsule, b) inserting a pheromone into a second capsule, c) sequentially delivering the insecticide filled capsules followed by the pheromone filled capsules at the desired location so that the insecticide filled capsules and the pheromone filled capsules impact upon the desired location, liberating the insecticide and pheromone in the desired location.
- 4. A container for delivering pesticide to a surface subject to Scolytidae infestation to repel conifer-feeding beetles in the family Scolytidae comprising a gelatin capsule stably encapsulated with at least one compound selected from the group consisting of 4-allylanisole, anisole, allylbenzene, 4-isopropylanisole, p-anisaldehyde, ethylbenzene, cumene, 4-methoxyacetophenone, 4-methylstyrene, 2-propylphenol, phenetole, toluene and mixtures thereof and a pheromone, said container emitting an effective vapor dose of said compounds upon contact with said surface at an appropriate height for utilizing the compounds as a pesticide and attractant.
- 5. A method for delivering an animal repellant to a location from which it is desired to repel such animal which comprises the step of inserting an animal repellant into a container, said container being capable of emitting an effective vapor dose of said repellant upon contact with a surface and delivering the filled containers at the desired location.
