Claims
- 1. A container for fermentation of a non-foamy wine within a bottle comprising:
- a body having an inner cavity adapted to be filled with yeast;
- said body including first and second means for providing fluid communication between said inner cavity and the exterior of said body, said first fluid communication means including hydrophilic membrane filter means disposed on said body and said second fluid communication means including hydrophobic membrane filter means disposed on said body; and
- each of said hydrophilic and hydrophobic membrane filter means being of a pore size to retain within said body yeast when inserted therein.
- 2. The container of claim 1 wherein said body is tubular and comprises a plurality of outer grooves, said grooves being circular and occupying more than three quarters of the outer circumference of said body while leaving an ungrooved portion of the circumference aligned according to a generatrix of said body and a plurality of perforations formed within said grooves, said hydrophilic membrane filter means being sealingly affixed to the exterior of said body so as to cover a first predetermined area of said perforations defining said first fluid communication means and said hydrophobic membrane filter means being sealingly affixed to the exterior of said body so as to cover a second distinct predetermined area of said perforations defining said second fluid communications means.
- 3. The container of claim 2 wherein said body includes an open end for admitting yeast and an opposite closed end, and each of said respective hydropholic and hydrophobic membrane filter means being welded to the exterior of the body.
- 4. The container of claim 1 wherein said body includes an open end for admitting yeast and an opposite closed end, and each of said respective hydrophilic and hydrophobic membrane filter means being welded to the exterior of said body.
- 5. The container of claims 2 4 or 3 wherein said hydrophilic and hydrophobic membrane filter means are welded longitudinally to said ungrooved portion.
- 6. The container of claims 2, 4 or 3 wherein said hydrophilic and hydrophobic membrane filter means are welded circumferentially along the edge portions of said circular grooves.
- 7. The container of claims 2, 4 or 3 wherein said hydrophilic and hydrophobic membrane filter means are welded longitudinally to said ungrooved portion and are welded circumferentially along the edge portion of said circular grooves.
- 8. The container of claim 4 wherein said open end includes a cylindrical end piece of flexible thermoplastic and having a diameter greater than that of said tubular body and corresponding to the diameter of a bottle neck so that said end piece is adapted to seal the opening of said bottle.
- 9. The container of claim 1 wherein said body is tubular and includes an opening at one end thereof sealingly covered by said hydrophobic membrane filter means, said opening and said hydrophobic membrane filter means defining said second fluid communication means, and a plurality of perforations on the outer surface of said body communicating with said inner cavity, said perforations being sealingly covered by said hydrophilic membrane filter means and defining said first fluid communication means.
- 10. The container of claim 9 wherein said tubular body comprises a plurality of inner longitudinal grooves therein parallel to the centerline of said body and a plurality of perforations formed within said grooves and providing communication between the interior and exterior of said container.
- 11. The container of claims 1, 2 or 9 wherein said container contains yeasts for producing fermentation of sugared wine, said sugared wine contacting said yeasts by passage through said hydrophilic membrane filter means and the resultant produced carbonic gas being expelled from said container by passage through said hydrophobic membrane filter means.
- 12. A method of fermenting a non-foamy wine within a bottle from which said wine is dispensed comprising the step of introducing a container according to claim 1 filled with yeast into said bottle.
