Claims
- 1. An improved containerized pipe coating including an asphalt base coating material comprising about 10% to 25% by weight asphalt and about 75% to 90% by weight aggregate, and a container capable of being melted and mixed with said material to enhance the physical properties thereof, said container comprising no more than about 5% by weight of the coating material contained thereby and said container being constructed primarily from a material containing at least one of the members of the group consisting of polyethylene, polypropylene, and polyethylene-polypropylene copolymer.
- 2. The invention as set forth in claim 1, wherein said container consists of about 10% to 15% by weight polyethylene, about 10% to 15% by weight polypropylene-polyethylene copolymer and about 70% to 80% polypropylene.
- 3. The invention as set forth in claim 2, wherein said container is constructed from material characterized by a melt flow index of about 3.5 to 5.0.
- 4. The invention as set forth in claim 1, wherein said aggregate comprises crushed stone and sand.
- 5. The invention as set forth in claim 4, wherein said asphalt is characterized by a flash point of no less than about 450.degree. F.
- 6. The invention as set forth in claim 1, wherein said container consists of from 10% to 15% by weight polyethylene, from 10% to 15% by weight polypropylene-polyethylene copolymer and from 70% to 80% polypropylene, and said container comprises about 1.7% by weight of the coating material contained thereby.
