Claims
- 1. A method of organizing information in a content management system comprising the steps of:
creating a database including a root table and at least one child table together forming a tree hierarchy which stores information; and providing a stored procedure for accessing a selected arbitrary portion of the tree hierarchy.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein a number of item type views is provided as an input to the stored procedure.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein an item type view ID is provided as an input to the stored procedure.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein a component type view ID is provided as an input to the stored procedure as a starting point.
- 5. The method of claim 1 wherein an item ID with version information is provided as an input to the stored procedure.
- 6. The method of claim 1 wherein a component ID with version information is provided as an input to the stored procedure.
- 7. The method of claim 1 wherein level information is provided as an input to the stored procedure.
- 8. A computer program product for organizing information in a content management system, the computer program product including a plurality of computer executable instructions stored on a computer readable medium, wherein the instructions, when executed by the content management system, cause the system to perform the steps of:
creating a database including a root table and at least one child table together forming a tree hierarchy which stores information; and providing a stored procedure for accessing a selected arbitrary portion of the tree hierarchy.
- 9. The computer program product of claim 8 wherein the computer readable medium is an optical disk.
- 10 The computer program product of claim 8 wherein the computer readable medium is a magnetic disk.
- 11. A content management system comprising:
an information storage facility including a database having a root table and at least one child table together forming a tree hierarchy which stores information; and a stored procedure coupled to the database for accessing a selected arbitrary portion of the tree hierarchy.
- 12. A content management system comprising:
a resource manager for storing objects; a library server, coupled to the resource manager, for storing metadata regarding objects in the resource manager, the library server including a database having a root table and at least one child table together forming a tree hierarchy which stores information, the library server further including a stored procedure coupled to the database for accessing a selected arbitrary portion of the tree hierarchy.
- 13. The content management system of claim 14 further comprising an application program interface coupled to the library server and the resource manager.
- 14. The content management system of claim 12 further comprising a client coupled to the application program interface.
