Content structures and content navigation interfaces

Abstract
In one example, a content navigation interface apparatus includes display logic for displaying selections for accessing a first entry of a content structure and a second entry of the content structure, wherein the second entry is a sub-entry of the first entry. The apparatus further including selection logic for determining the second entry for display based on a user characteristic (e.g., history, user profile, etc.). The first entry may be associated with a first level of a hierarchical content structure, and the second entry associated with a second level of the hierarchical content structure. In one example, the first entry is associated with a broad content category and the second entry associated with content, such as a media object.

Claims
  • 1. A content navigation interface apparatus for navigating content, comprising: display logic for displaying together selections for accessing: a first entry of a content structure, anda second entry of the content structure, wherein the second entry is a sub-entry of the first entry; andselection logic for determining the second entry for display based on a user characteristic.
  • 2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the first entry is associated with a first level of a hierarchical content structure, and the second entry is associated with a second level of the hierarchical content structure.
  • 3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the first entry is associated with a content category and the second entry is associated with a media object.
  • 4. The user interface logic of claim 1, wherein the user characteristic comprises history data of the user.
  • 5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the user characteristic comprises profile data of the user.
  • 6. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising advertising logic for displaying an advertisement.
  • 7. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the advertisement is displayed based upon a user characteristic.
  • 8. A content navigation interface apparatus for navigating content, comprising: display logic for displaying an interface associated with a hierarchical content structure, the content interface displaying selections together for accessing a first entry of a first level of content and a second entry of second level of content;content logic for determining a user characteristic; andselection logic for determining the selection for accessing the second entry for display based on the user characteristic.
  • 9. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the second entry comprises a media object.
  • 10. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the user characteristic comprises history data of the user.
  • 11. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the user characteristic comprises profile data of the user.
  • 12. The apparatus of claim 8, further comprising advertising logic for displaying an advertisement.
  • 13. The apparatus of claim 12 wherein the advertisement is displayed based upon a user characteristic.
  • 14. A method for navigating content on a user device, the method comprising: determining a user characteristic; anddisplaying selections to entries of a content structure based on the user characteristic, the selections comprising a selection for accessing a first entry of the content structure, and a selection for accessing a second entry of the content structure, wherein the second entry is a sub-entry of the first entry.
  • 15. The method of claim 14, wherein the first entry is associated with a first level of a hierarchical content structure, and the second entry is associated with a second level of the hierarchical content structure.
  • 16. The method of claim 14, wherein the first entry is associated with a content category and the second entry is associated with a media object.
  • 17. The method of claim 14, wherein the user characteristic comprises history data of the user.
  • 18. The method of claim 14, wherein the user characteristic comprises profile data of the user.
  • 19. The method of claim 14, further comprising displaying an advertisement with the selections.
  • 20. The method of claim 19, wherein the advertisement is displayed based upon a user characteristic.

A computer program product comprising program code for navigating content, the computer program product comprising program code for: displaying selections to access a first entry of a content structure and a second entry of the content structure, wherein the second entry is a sub-entry of the first entry; andselection logic for determining the second entry for display based on a user characteristic.
  • 22. The computer program product code of claim 21, wherein the first entry is associated with a first level of a hierarchical content structure, and the second entry is associated with a second level of the hierarchical content structure.
  • 23. The computer program product code of claim 21, wherein the first entry is associated with a content category and the second entry is associated with a media object.
