Claims
- 1. A method for distributing a first rest of context, said rest of context having a static content and a second rest of context, the method comprising the steps of:
receiving a first rest of context from a first access router, extracting the static context from the first rest of context; forwarding a second rest of context to at least one NE; and sending a context transfer complete message to a second access router.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein the first access router is a component of a first autonomous system and the second access router is a component of a second autonomous system.
- 3. The method of claim 2 wherein the step of receiving a first rest of context is preceded by the steps of:
receiving a context transfer request from the first autonomous system; and forwarding the context transfer request to the second autonomous system.
- 4. The method of claim 3 wherein the step of forwarding the context transfer request is followed by the step of:
adding a first context with a second context to form all these contexts.
- 5. The method of claim 4 wherein the step of adding the first context is followed by the step of:
sending all these contexts from a first policy server to the second access router.
- 6. The method of claim 5 wherein the step of sending all these contexts is followed by the step of:
extracting a relevant context from all these contexts.
- 7. The method of claim 1 wherein the at least one network element comprises a security gateway.
- 8. The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of:
forwarding the context transfer complete message to the first policy server.
- 9. The method of claim 8 wherein the steps of receiving a first rest of context is preceded by the steps of:
receiving a context transfer request from the first autonomous system; and forwarding the context transfer request to the second autonomous system.
- 10. A method for forwarding a context comprising the steps of:
adding the context with a second context to form all these contexts at a first policy server; sending all these contexts from the first policy server to a second access router; extracting a relevant context from all these contexts at the second access router; forwarding a rest of context from the second access router to a second policy server; extracting a static context at the second policy server; forwarding the static context to at least one network element; sending a context transfer complete message from the second policy server to a first access router; and forwarding the context transfer complete message from the first access router to the first policy server.
- 11. The method of claim 10 wherein the first policy server is a component of a first autonomous system, and the first access router is a component of a first autonomous system; and the second policy server is a component of a second autonomous system and the second access router is a component of the second autonomous system.
- 12. The method of forwarding a context of claim 10 further comprising the steps of receiving the context from the second access router prior to the step of adding the context with a second context.
- 13. The method of forwarding a context of claim 12 further comprising the steps of forwarding a context transfer request from the first policy server to a second autonomous system wherein the first policy server is a component of a first autonomous system and said step of forwarding a context transfer request occurs prior to the step of receiving the context from the second access router.
- 14. The method of forwarding a context of claim 13 further comprising the steps of requesting a first policy server to send a context transfer request, said step of requesting occurring prior to the step of forwarding the context transfer request.
- 15. The method of forwarding a context of claim 14 further comprising the steps of receiving an identity packet at the first access router, said step of receiving an identity packet occurring prior to the step of requesting the first policy server to send a context transfer request.
- 16. A method of identifying, to a mobile node currently served by a first autonomous system, a list of at least one capable access router comprising the steps of:
getting an identifier forwarding the identifier to a neighboring policy server; sending a message to the mobile node, said message having the list of at least one capable access router.
- 17. The method of claim 16, further comprising the steps of:
determining if a second autonomous system can serve the mobile node and calculating the list of at least one access router that can serve the mobile node.
- 18. The method of claim 16 wherein the step of getting an identifier comprises getting a link layer identifier.
- 19. The method of claim 16 wherein the step of getting an identifier comprises getting an autonomous system number.
- 20. The method of claim 19 wherein the step of forwarding an identifier is followed by the steps of:
determining if a second autonomous system can serve the mobile node and calculating the list of at least one access router that can serve the mobile node.
