Claims
- 1. A cleaning system for the screen deck of a screening machine, comprising:
a cleaning device, said cleaning device further comprising a length of chain or cable positioned on top of and along the length of said screen deck; and a motorized system for moving said cleaning device across the surface of said screen deck.
- 2. The cleaning system of claim 1, further comprising a control system for automatically controlling the operation of said cleaning system.
- 3. The cleaning system of claim 2, wherein said control system further comprises three relays, and wherein said first relay is a power relay, said second relay is a repeat cycle relay, and said third relay is driven by said second relay and handles switching output to said motorized system.
- 4. The cleaning system of claim 1, wherein said cleaning device further comprises a protective cover surrounding the portion of said cleaning device that makes contact with said screen deck.
- 5. The cleaning system of claim 1, wherein said motorized system further comprises a motor and a travel system for allowing said motor to move across said screen deck surface, said travel system further comprising at least two posts mounted on either side of said screen deck, a structural member running between said posts, a cable running between said posts beneath and parallel to said structural member, a bracket for supporting said motor, and at least one pulley attached to said bracket for mounting said bracket on said cable.
- 6. The cleaning system of claim 5, wherein said motor further comprises a rotating shaft to which said cleaning device is attached.
- 7. A cleaning system to prevent obstructions and blockages of one or more screens of screening machines used to sort aggregates, each such screen having a length, a width, a top side and a bottom side, and an entry end and exit end, by continuously cleaning the top side of each screen, comprising:
a length of cleaning device positioned along the length of and on top of said screen being cleaned; a motorized system connected to said cleaning device to rotate and move such device across said screen, said motorized system comprising: a motor having a rotating shaft to which said cleaning device is attached; a travel system on which said motor travels back and forth across the width of the screen being cleaned at the feed end of the screening machine; and controls and switches to regulate the power and direction of said motor, so that the rotation of the shaft of the motor rotates the cleaning device, said rotation having the effect of moving the assembly of the motor and cleaning device back and forth so that as said cleaning device rotates and taps the surface of the screen, said surface is thereby continuously cleaned.
- 8. A cleaning system as in claim 7 wherein said travel system comprises:
posts at the entry end of said screen to support a tightly strung cable positioned horizontally across and in parallel relationship with the width of, and above, the screen to be cleaned; and a pulley attached by a bracket to said motor and positioned to roll back and forth along said cable.
- 9. A cleaning system as in claim 7 further comprising:
a protective support cover over the portion of said cleaning device attached to said motor and extending from approximately the point of such attachment to approximately the point just before said cleaning device comes in contact with said screen; and controls to regulate the power, speed, and direction of said motor.
- 10. A cleaning system as in claim 7 wherein said cleaning device comprises a chain having one or more urethane sections covering the portion of said chain which comes into contact with said screen.
- 11. A cleaning system as in claim 7 wherein the exterior of said cleaning device comprises an irregular shape to facilitate the cleaning action of the cleaning device as it moves back and forth across said screen being cleaned.
- 12. A method for cleaning the screen deck of a screening machine, comprising the steps of:
providing a cleaning device, said cleaning device further comprising a length of chain or cable positioned on top of and along the length of said screen deck; providing a means by which said cleaning device may be continuously moved back and forth across the width of said screen deck; and providing a means by which said cleaning device may be struck repeatedly against the surface of said screen deck to remove or dislodge any material caught in or on said screen deck.
