- 6. A digester as recited in claim 3 further comprising at least one screen assembly for withdrawing dissolved organic material rich liquid, splitting the liquid into first and second flows, passing the first flow to recovery; and adding low dissolved organic material liquid, including having a lower concentration of each of dissolved lignin, hemicellulose, and cellulose than said dissolved organic material rich liquid to the second flow, and reintroducing the second flow to the digester to reduce the concentration of dissolved organic material, including each of lignin, hemicellulose, and cellulose, in the digester.
- 7. A digester as recited in claim 2 further comprising at least one screen assembly for withdrawing dissolved organic material rich liquid, splitting the liquid into first and second flows, passing the first flow to recovery; and adding low dissolved organic material liquid, including having a lower concentration of each of dissolved lignin, hemicellulose, and cellulose than said dissolved organic material rich liquid to the second flow, and reintroducing the second flow to the digester to reduce the concentration of dissolved organic material, including each of lignin, hemicellulose, and cellulose, in the digester.
- 8. A digester as recited in claim 1 wherein said second screen is vertically above said first screen and said reintroduction conduit opening is above said second screen.
- 9. A digester as recited in claim 1 wherein said second screen is vertically below said first screen and said reintroduction conduit opening is below said second screen.
- 10. A two vessel continuous digester system comprising:
- an impregnation vessel;
- a substantially upright digester having a top and bottom with a slurry of comminuted cellulosic material to be digested from said impregnation vessel introduced adjacent the top, and pulp withdrawn adjacent the bottom;
- a countercurrent continuous cooking zone disposed at a first level of said digester, and including a first screen for removing liquor from the cooking zone and a cooking circulation loop associated with said first screen for circulating the removed liquor to the interior of said digester near the vicinity of said first screen;
- means for adding dilution liquor, having a lower dissolved organic material concentration than the removed liquor, including lower dissolved concentrations of each of lignin, hemicellulose, and cellulose, in said cooking circulation loop, and cooking liquor to said cooking circulation loop; and
- an extraction screen with extraction conduit located at a second vertical level in said vessel, below said first level.
- 11. A digester system as recited in claim 10 further comprising a second cooking circulation, including a second cooking circulation screen, disposed at a third vertical level in said digester, above said first vertical level.
- 12. A two vessel continuous digester system comprising:
- an impregnation vessel;
- a substantially upright digester having a top and bottom with a slurry of comminuted cellulosic material to be digested from said impregnation vessel introduced adjacent the top, and pulp withdrawn adjacent the bottom;
- a first screen assembly in said digester for removing liquid from said digester closer to the top than the bottom thereof, and passing the removed liquid to heat recovery;
- a second screen assembly in said digester, vertically below said first screen assembly, in a cooking zone, for withdrawing liquid from the cooking zone and recirculating the liquid in a cooking circulation loop to recirculate the withdrawn liquid to the interior of said digester near the vicinity of said second screen assembly;
- means for adding dilution liquor, having a lower dissolved organic material concentration that the liquid removed by said first screen assembly, to said second screen assembly cooking circulation loop; and
- means for adding cooking liquor to said second screen assembly cooking circulation loop.
- 13. A digester system as recited in claim 12 further comprising a third screen assembly, vertically below said second screen assembly, for removing liquid from said digester and passing it to heat recovery, and wherein said digester is a hydraulic digester.
- 14. A digester system as recited in claim 13 wherein the liquid removed from said first and third screen assemblies is passed to flash tanks, and wherein said dilution liquid added with said means for adding dilution liquid includes lower dissolved concentrations of each of lignin, hemicellulose, and cellulose.
- 15. A digester system as recited in claim 13 further comprising a wash screen assembly disposed in said digester adjacent the bottom thereof and below said third screen assembly.
- 16. A digester system as recited in claim 12 further comprising a wash screen assembly disposed in said digester adjacent the bottom thereof and below said second screen assembly.
- 17. A digester system as recited in claim 12 wherein said means for adding dilution liquor comprises a conduit connected to a source of cold blow filtrate.
- 18. A digester system as recited in claim 12 wherein said second screen assembly cooking circulation loop also includes a removal conduit for removing some liquid from said cooking circulation loop before said means for adding dilution liquid adds dilution liquid to said cooking circulation loop.
- 19. A digester system as recited in claim 18 wherein said means for adding dilution liquor comprises a conduit connected to a source of cold blow filtrate.
- 20. A digester system as recited in claim 12 wherein said first screen assembly also includes a cooking circulation loop to recirculate the withdrawn liquid to the interior of said digester near the vicinity of said first screen assembly, and wherein said digester is a hydraulic digester.
