Claims
- 1. A continuous-filtering fryer apparatus comprising:
- a tank having a bottom and side walls defining a tank interior;
- cooking oil disposed in said tank;
- at least one inlet port extending into the tank interior;
- an outlet port in fluid communication with the tank interior adjacent the tank bottom;
- said outlet port including an outlet port first segment extending above said tank bottom;
- pump means operatively connected to said at least one inlet port and said outlet port to conduct cooking oil from said outlet port to said at least one inlet port;
- at least one heating element provided in the tank interior;
- filter plate means attached to said outlet port;
- said filter plate means connected to said outlet port first segment and supported by said outlet port first segment;
- said filter plate means located near said tank bottom;
- whereby a flow of cooking oil in said tank interior is drawn from said at least one inlet port, through said filter plate means and through said outlet port.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising:
- a first inlet port positioned on a first side wall of said tank;
- a second inlet port positioned on a second side wall of said tank, said first and second inlet ports connected to said pump means by a conduit;
- said conduit including a first flow line extending from said first port and a second flow line extending from said second port;
- said first and second flow lines connected to a T-branch, said T-branch connected to said pump means, said T-branch conducting cooking oil at relatively equivalent flow rates to said first inlet port and said second inlet port.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising:
- said cooking oil disposed in said tank to a desired level, said inlet port positioned below said desired level.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising:
- said pump means applying a suction to said outlet port for conducting the cooking oil continuously to said inlet port; and
- controller means electrically connected to said pump means for controlling the flow rate of cooking oil.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising:
- said outlet port first segment including a threaded member, said threaded member having an interior passageway, said threaded member extending vertically upwardly from said bottom surface; and
- an outlet flow line connected to said threaded member and extending to said pump means, said outlet flow line extending exterior of said tank.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising:
- said outlet port first segment extending upwardly from said bottom surface of said tank, said filter plate means removably affixed to said outlet port first segment, said filter plate means extending in generally parallel relationship to said tank bottom.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising:
- said filter plate means including a first mesh screen, a second mesh screen, and a filter insert containing voids and passages to allow vertical and lateral fluid flow therethrough;
- said filter insert sandwiched between said mesh screens;
- said outlet port in fluid communication with said filter insert;
- whereby cooking oil is drawn through said first and second mesh screens.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 7, further comprising:
- a lower cap member threadedly removably connected to said outlet port, said lower cap member supporting said second mesh screen transversely relative to said outlet port, said lower cap member having an annular interior extending therethrough.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 8, further comprising:
- an upper cap member threadedly received by said lower cap member, said upper cap member having a head and a body portion, said body portion having a plurality of ports extending radially therethrough, said body portion having an interior passageway in fluid communication between said lower cap member annular interior and said plurality of ports, said first and second mesh screens and said filter insert member interposed between said upper cap member and said lower cap member.
- 10. The combination according to claim 7 wherein said first and second mesh screens are formed of 24.times.110 wire mesh with 0.0145 inch and 0.0090 inch strand diameters respectively.
- 11. The combination according to claim 7 wherein said first and second mesh screens are formed of 80.times.70 wire mesh with strand diameter of 0.0055 inches.
- 12. The combination according to claim 7 wherein said first and second mesh screens are formed of 100 wire mesh with strand diameter of 0.0045 inches.
- 13. The combination according to claim 7 wherein the distances between aligned strands of the said first and second mesh screens are within the range of 2 microns to 5 microns.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 7, further comprising:
- a filter powder distributed in surface-to-surface contact across outer surfaces of said first and second mesh screens.
- 15. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising:
- said at least one inlet port including at least one downwardly-oriented aperture.
- 16. A continuous-filtering fryer apparatus comprising:
- a tank having a bottom and side walls filled with cooking oil to a desired level;
- a filter plate adjacent the tank bottom;
- an outlet port affixed to said tank bottom, said outlet port attached to said filter plate;
- pump means connected to said outlet port, said pump means for drawing cooking oil through said filter plate to said outlet port;
- at least one heating element interior of said tank;
- an inlet port connected to said pump means, said inlet port extending into the tank, said inlet port positioned so as to open below the desired level of cooking oil in the tank;
- said outlet port extending through said tank bottom, said outlet port having a first threaded portion extending above said tank bottom and a second threaded portion extending below said tank bottom;
- said filter plate threadedly connected to said first threaded portion;
- an outlet flow line threadedly connected to said second threaded portion of said outlet port;
- said outlet flow line connected to a suction inlet of said pump means; and
- said outlet port supporting said filter plate.
- 17. The apparatus of claim 16, further comprising:
- a first mesh screen, a second mesh screen, and a filter insert having voids and passages to allow vertical and lateral fluid flow therethrough;
- said filter insert sandwiched between said first and second mesh screens;
- said outlet port in fluid communication with said filter insert;
- whereby the cooking oil is drawn through said mesh screens.
- 18. The apparatus of claim 17, said filter plate further comprising:
- a lower cap removably connected to said outlet port, said lower cap supporting said second mesh screen transversely relative to said outlet port, said lower cap having an annular interior extending therethrough; and
- an upper cap threadedly received by said lower cap, said upper cap having a head and a body portion, said body portion having a plurality of ports extending radially therethrough, said body portion having an interior passageway in fluid communication between said lower cap interior passageway and said plurality of ports, said first and second mesh screens and said filter insert interposed between said upper cap and said lower cap.
- 19. The apparatus of claim 18, further comprising:
- a first inlet port extending through a side wall of the tank;
- a second inlet port extending through an opposite side wall of the tank, said first and second inlet ports connected to said pump means by a conduit;
- said conduit including a first flow line extending from said first inlet port;
- said conduit including a second flow line extending from said second inlet port; and
- said first and second flow lines connected to a T-branch, said T-branch connected to said pump means, said T-branch conducting cooking oil at relatively equivalent flow rates to said first inlet port and second inlet port.
- 20. A continuous-filtering fryer apparatus comprising;
- a tank having a bottom and side walls defining a tank interior, said tank interior filled with cooking oil to a desired level;
- filter plate means disposed near the tank bottom;
- an outlet port adjacent said tank bottom, said outlet port attached to said filter plate means;
- pump means connected to said outlet port, said pump means drawing cooking oil through said filter plate means and through said outlet port;
- at least one inlet port connected to said pump means, said at least one inlet port in fluid communication with the tank interior;
- at least one heat source for heating said cooking oil, said at least one heat source disposed vertically intermediate said at least one inlet port and said filter plate means;
- said filter plate means including at least one mesh screen and including a filter insert having voids and passages to allow vertical and lateral fluid flow therethrough;
- said outlet port in fluid communication with said filter insert;
- whereby a flow of cooking oil in said container is directed from said at least one inlet port downwardly past said at least one heat source, through said at least one mesh screen, through said filter insert and through said outlet port.
- 21. The apparatus of claim 20 further comprising:
- a first inlet port extending through a side wall of the tank;
- a second inlet port extending through an opposite side wall of the tank, said first and second inlet ports connected to said pump means by a conduit;
- said conduit including a first flow line extending from said first inlet port;
- said conduit including a second flow line extending from said second inlet port; and
- said first and second flow lines connected to a T-branch, said T-branch connected to said pump means, said T-branch conducting cooking oil at relatively equivalent flow rates to said first inlet port and second inlet port.
