- b. certain of said spindles having axes and being rotatable thereabout;
- c. abrading means on said vegetable engaging surface of certain of said spindles for removing peelings from said vegetables;
- d. power means operably engaging certain of said spindles and rotating same about said spindle axes;
- e. mounting structure supporting said cage for rotary motion about an axis extending through said chamber;
- f. power means operably engaging and rotating said cage at least to a rotary speed sufficient to maintain centrifugal force contact against said spindles by vegetables travelling substantially at said speed in contact with said spindles;
- g. means urging said vegetables into contact with said engaging surfaces and permitting said cage to accelerate said vegetables to said speed;
- h. said spindle axes and cage axis extending upwardly inducing gravity vegetable feed;
- i. feed means communicating with the upper end of said cage for feeding vegetables thereinto;
- j. discharge means communicating with the lower end of said cage for discharging peeled vegetables from said chamber whereby the vegetables continuously move from said feed end to said discharge end; and
- k. air moving means communicating with said cage upper end and operable to carry away debris removed from said vegetables adjacent said cage upper end.
- 10. Peeling apparatus comprising:
- a. a plurality of spindles having a vegetable engaging surface and at least partially forming a cage defining a chamber adapted to contain a mixture of vegetables and peelings therefrom, certain of said spindles being spaced apart defining openings communicating from the interior of said cage to the exterior thereof and of a size to permit passage of said peelings but retention of said vegetables;
