Claims
- 1. A compound of the formula: wherein X is and R3 is NHCOCH(OH)CH3, N(COCH3)CH2CH(OH)CH2OH, N(COCH2OH)CH2CH(OH)CH2OH, or NHCOCH2OCH3.
- 2. A contrast media comprising an amount of a compound according to claim 1 effective as a contrast medium in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
- 3. A method of visualizing an internal organ or structure of a patient, comprising the steps of:administering to the patient an amount of a compound according to claim 1 effective as a contrast medium, and then exposing said organ or structure to a diagnostic imaging treatment.
- 4. A compound of the formula wherein X is and wherein either (i) R1 is N(CH2CH2OH)CH2CH(OH)CH(OH)CH2OH and R2 is CH(OH)CH2OH or CH(CH2OH)2, or (ii) R1 is N(CH2CH(OH)CH2OH)CH2CH(OH)CH(OH)CH2OH and R2 is CH(OH)CH3.
- 5. A contrast media comprising an amount of a compound according to claim 4 effective as a contrast medium in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
- 6. A method of visualizing an internal organ or structure of a patient, comprising the steps of:administering to the patient an amount of a compound according to claim 4 effective as a contrast medium, and then exposing said organ or structure to a diagnostic imaging treatment.
- 7. A compound of the formula wherein X is and wherein R2 is CH(OH)CH2OH, CH(CH2OH)2, or CH(OH)CH3.
- 8. A contrast media comprising an amount of a compound according to claim 7 effective as a contrast medium in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
- 9. A method of visualizing an internal organ or structure of a patient, comprising the steps of:administering to the patient an amount of a compound according to claim 7 effective as a contrast medium, and then exposing said organ or structure to a diagnostic imaging treatment.
- 10. A compound of the formula: wherein X is and whereinR2 is CONHCH(CH2OH)2 and R3 is NHCOCH(OH)CH3, R2 is CONHCH2CH(OH)CH2OH and R3 is N(COCH3)CH2CH(OH)CH2OH, R2 is CONHCH2CH(OH)CH2OH and R3 is N(COCH2OH)CH2CH(OH)CH2OH, R2 is CONHCH2CH2OH and R3 is N(COCH3)CH2CH(OH)CH2OH, or R2 is CON(CH3)CH2CHOHCH2OH and R3 is NHCOCH2OCH3.
- 11. A contract media comprising an amount of a compound according to claim 10 effective as a contrast medium with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
- 12. A method of visualizing an internal organ or structure of a patient, comprising the steps of:administering to the patient an amount of a compound according to claim 11 effective as a contract medium, and then exposing said organ or structure to a diagnostic imaging treatment.
