Claims
- 1. A camera comprising:
- a flash device which, when operated, emits illumination light to illuminate an object;
- a pre-illumination device, which, when operated, emits pre-illumination light to the object, prior to the emission of said flash device, the timing of emission of said pre-illumination light relative to emission of said illumination light and the character of said pre-illumination light being such as to reduce red-eye effect in an eye of the object by reducing a pupil aperture thereof;
- a manual operating member; and
- a mode switching device, electrically connected to said pre-illumination device, which switches among a plurality of modes including at least a mode which allows said pre-illumination device to operate and a mode which inhibits said pre-illumination device from operating irrespective of operation of said flash device, in response to an operation of said manual operating member.
- 2. A camera according to claim 1, wherein said manual operating member is a push type operating member, which switches modes at each push operation.
- 3. A camera comprising:
- a flash device which, when operated, emits illumination light to illuminate an object;
- a pre-illumination device, which, when operated, emits pre-illumination light to the object, prior to the emission of said flash device, the timing of emission of said pre-illumination light relative to emission of said illumination light and the character of said pre-illumination light being such as to reduce red-eye effect in an eye of the object by reducing a pupil aperture thereof;
- a manual operating member; and
- a mode switching device, electrically connected to said pre-illumination device, which switches among a plurality of modes including at least a mode which allows said pre-illumination device to operate and a mode which inhibits said pre-illumination device from operating irrespective of operation of said flash device, in response to an operation of said manual operating member,
- wherein said mode switching device can switch to a self-timer mode in response to operation of said manual operating member, and allows said pre-illumination device to operate if a condition for operating said flash device is satisfied when a mode is switched to the self-timer mode.
- 4. A camera comprising:
- a flash device which, when operated, emits illumination light to illuminate an object;
- a pre-illumination device which, when operated, emits pre-illumination light to the object, prior to the emission of said flash device, the timing of emission of said pre-illumination light relative to emission of said illumination light and the character of said pre-illumination light being such as to reduce red-eye effect in an eye of the object by reducing a pupil aperture thereof;
- a manually operated switch; and
- a mode switching device, electrically connected to said pre-illumination device, which switches between a mode which allows said pre-illumination device to operate and a mode which inhibits said pre-illumination device from operating irrespective of operation of said flash device, at each operation of said manually operated switch.
- 5. A camera comprising:
- a flash device which, when operated, emits illumination light to illuminate an object;
- a pre-illumination device, which when operated, emits pre-illumination light to the object, separately from the emission of said flash device;
- a first manual operating member;
- a mode switching device for object illumination, electrically connected to said flash device, which switches, in response to operation of said first manual operating member, to select one of a plurality of modes including at least an automatic emission mode in which it is judged based on luminance of the object whether the emission of the illumination light is allowed or not, a compulsory emission mode which allows the emission of the illumination light regardless of the luminance of the object, and an emission inhibiting mode which inhibits the emission of the illumination light regardless of the luminance of the object;
- a second manual operating members; and
- a mode switching device for pre-illumination, electrically connected to said pre-illumination device,
- (1) which switches to select one of a plurality of modes including at least a mode which allows said pre-illumination device to operate and a mode which inhibits said pre-illumination device from operating, in response to operation of said second manual operating member, when said mode switching device for object illumination switches to select said automatic emission mode or said compulsory emission mode, and
- (2) which switches to select a mode which inhibits the operation of said pre-illumination device, regardless of the operation of said second manual operating member, when said mode switching device for object illumination switches to select said emission inhibiting mode.
- 6. A camera according to claim 5, wherein said pre-illumination device reduces a red-eye effect by emitting light to an eye of the object for reducing a pupil aperture thereof.
- 7. A camera comprising:
- flash means operable for emitting illumination light to illuminate an object;
- pre-illumination means operable to emit pre-illumination light to the object, prior to the emission of said flash means, the timing of emission of said pre-illumination light relative to emission of said illumination light and the character of said pre-illumination light being such as to reduce red-eye effect in an eye of the object by reducing a pupil aperture thereof;
- manual operating means; and
- mode switching means for switching among a plurality of modes including at least a mode which allows said pre-illumination means to operate and a mode which inhibits said pre-illumination means from operating irrespective of operation of said flash means, in response to an operation of said manual operating means.
- 8. A camera comprising:
- flash means operable for emitting illumination light to illuminate an object;
- pre-illumination means operable to emit pre-illumination light to the object, prior to the emission of said flash means, the timing of emission of said pre-illumination light relative to emission of said illumination light and the character of said pre-illumination light being such as to reduce red-eye effect in an eye of the object by reducing a pupil aperture thereof;
- manual operating means; and
- mode switching means for switching among a plurality of modes including at least a mode which allows said pre-illumination means to operate, a mode which inhibits said pre-illumination means from operating irrespective of operation of said flash means, and a self-timer mode, in response to an operation of said manual operating means,
- wherein when said mode is switched to said self-timer mode, said pre-illumination means is allowed to operate if a condition for operating said flash means is satisfied.
- 9. A camera comprising:
- flash means operable to emit illumination light to illuminate an object;
- pre-illumination means operable to emit pre-illumination light to the object, prior to the emission of said flash means, the timing of emission of said pre-illumination light relative to emission of said illumination light and the character of said pre-illumination light being such as to reduce red-eye effect in an a eye of the object by reducing a pupil aperture thereof;
- manually operated switch means; and
- mode switching means for switching between a mode which allows said pre-illumination means to operate and a mode which inhibits said pre-illumination means from operating irrespective of operation of said flash means, at each operation of said manually operated switch means.
- 10. A camera comprising:
- flash means operable to emit illumination light to illuminate an object;
- pre-illumination means operable to emit pre-illumination light to the object, separately from the emission of said flash means;
- first manual operating means;
- mode switching means for object illumination, responsive to operation of said first manual operating means, for selecting one of a plurality of modes including at least an automatic emission mode in which it is judged based on luminance of the object whether the emission of the illumination light is allowed or not, a compulsory emission mode which allows the emission of the illumination light regardless of the luminance of the object, and an emission inhibiting mode which inhibits the emission of the illumination light regardless of the luminance of the object;
- second manual operating means; and
- mode switching means for pre-illumination for selecting one of a plurality of modes including at least a mode which allows said pre-illumination means to operate and a mode which inhibits said pre-illumination means from operating, in response to operation of said second manual operating means, when said mode switching means for object illumination selects said automatic emission mode or said compulsory emission mode, and which selects a mode which inhibits the operation of said pre-illumination means, regardless of the operation of said second manual operating means, when said mode switching means for object illumination selects said emission inhibiting mode.
- 11. A method of operating a camera having a flash device which, when operated, emits illumination light to illuminate an object, having a pre-illumination device, which, when operated, emits pre-illumination light to the object, prior to the emission of said flash device, the timing of emission of said pre-illumination light relative to emission of said illumination light and the character of said pre-illumination light being such as to reduce red-eye effect in an eye of the object by reducing a pupil aperture thereof, and having a manual operating member, said method comprising:
- operating said manual operating member; and
- switching among a plurality of modes, including at least a mode which allows said pre-illumination device to operate and a mode which inhibits said pre-illumination device from operating irrespective of operation of said flash device, in response to an operation of said manual operating member.
- 12. A method of operating a camera having a flash device which, when operated, emits illumination light to illuminate an object, having a pre-illumination device, which, when operated, emits pre-illumination light to the object, prior to the emission of said flash device, the timing of emission of said pre-illumination light relative to emission of said illumination light and the character of said pre-illumination light being such as to reduce red-eye effect in an eye of the object by reducing a pupil aperture thereof, and having a manual operating member, said method comprising:
- operating said manual operating member; and
- switching among a plurality of modes, including at least a mode which allows said pre-illumination device to operate, a mode which inhibits said pre-illumination device from operating irrespective of operation of said flash device, and a self-timer mode, in response to an operation of said manual operating member, and
- wherein when said mode is switched to said self-timer mode, said pre-illumination device is allowed to operate if a condition for operating said flash device is satisfied.
- 13. A method of operating a camera having a flash device which, when operated, emits illumination light to illuminate an object, having a pre-illumination device, which, when operated, emits pre-illumination light to the object, prior to the emission of said flash device, the timing of emission of said pre-illumination light relative to emission of said illumination light and the character of said pre-illumination light being such as to reduce red-eye effect in an eye of the object by reducing a pupil aperture thereof, and having a manually operable switch, said method comprising:
- operating said manually operable switch repeatedly; and
- switching between a mode which allows said pre-illumination device to operate and a mode which inhibits said pre-illumination device from operating irrespective of operation of said flash device, each time said manually operated switch is operated.
- 14. A method of operating a camera having a flash device which, when operated, emits illumination light to illuminate an object, having a pre-illumination device, which, when operated, emits pre-illumination light to the object, separately from the emission of said flash device, and having first and second manual operating members, said method comprising:
- operating said first manual operating member;
- selecting, in response to operation of said first manual operating member, one of a plurality of modes including at least an automatic emission mode in which it is judged based on luminance of the object whether the emission of the illumination light is allowed or not, a compulsory emission mode which allows the emission of the illumination light regardless of the luminance of the object, and an emission inhibiting mode which inhibits the emission of the illumination light regardless of the luminance of the object;
- operating said second manual operating member; and
- selecting, in response to operation of said second manual operating member, one of a plurality of modes including at least a mode which allows said pre-illumination device to operate and a mode which inhibits said pre-illumination device from operating when said automatic emission mode or said compulsory emission mode is selected, and selecting a mode which inhibits the operation of said pre-illumination device, regardless of the operation of said second manual operating member, when said emission inhibiting mode is selected.
