Claims
- 1. A convection tower for cleaning polluted air, generating electrical power, and producing fresh water comprising:
- a structure defining a tower section and a skirt section, said skirt section being formed into a plurality of individual tunnels;
- one or more first water sprayer means located in said first tower for providing a fine mist of water droplets for evaporative cooling of said air in said tower section of said structure to create a flow of said air through said structure and for removing pollution from said air;
- a plurality of turbine generator means disposed in said plurality of individual tunnels of said skirt section of said structure for generating electrical power once said flow of said air through said structure is established;
- a plurality of second water sprayer means disposed in said plurality of individual tunnels of said skirt section of said structure for removing any remaining pollutants and said fine mist water droplets from said flow of air through said stucture;
- a plurality of condensing means located downwind of said plurality of second water sprayer means for condensing fresh water out of said flow of air through said structure; and
- fresh water collection means located below said condensing means for collecting said fresh water condensed from said flow of air through said structure by said plurality of condensing means.
- 2. The apparatus described in claim 1 wherein said condensing means comprises pipes through which cold sea water is circulated.
- 3. The apparatus described in claim 1, wherein said one or more first water sprayer means and said second water sprayer means spray sea water.
- 4. The apparatus described in claim in 3, wherein said cold sea water from said condensing means is pumped to said one or more first water sprayer means and said second water sprayer means.
- 5. The apparatus described in claim 1 further comprising chemical sprayer means for spraying chemicals effective to dissolve hydrocarbons and other gases from said flow of air through said structure.
- 6. The apparatus described in claim 1 further comprising catch basin means in said plurality of individual tunnels of said skirt section of said structure for collecting pollution particulates and water from said one or more first water sprayer means and said second water sprayer means.
