Claims
- 1. A process for the conversion of an aliphatic hydrocarbon comprising contacting the same with a catalyst comprising a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite containing hydrogen ions, having a silica to alumina ratio of at least about 12 and a constraint index of about 1 to 12, said zeolite having been contacted with a phosphorus compound to combine therewith at least about 0.78 percent by weight of phosphorus.
- 2. The process of claim 1 wherein said zeolite has combined therewith between about 0.78 and about 4.5 percent by weight of phosphorus.
- 3. The process of claim 1 wherein said aliphatic hydrocarbon is contacted with said catalyst at a temperaure of about 250.degree. C. to 700.degree. C.
- 4. The process of claim 1 wherein said aliphatic hydrocarbon is contacted with said catalyst at a weight per hour space velocity between about 1:5 and 13.5.
- 5. The process of claim 1 wherein said aliphatic hydrocarbon is an olefin.
- 6. The process of claim 5 wherein said olefin is ethylene and said ethylene is contacted with said catalyst at a temperature of about 500.degree. C. to 700.degree. C.
- 7. The process of claim 1 wherein said olefin is propylene and said propylene is contacted with said catalyst at a temperature of about 300.degree. C. to 700.degree. C.
- 8. The process of claim 1 wherein said aliphatic hydrocarbon is a paraffin.
- 9. The process of claim 8 wherein said paraffin is n-hexane.
- 10. The process of claim 8 wherein said paraffin is a light naphtha.
- 11. The process of claim 1 wherein said zeolite is ZSM-5.
- 12. The process of claim 1 wherein said zeolite is ZSM-11.
- 13. The process of claim 1 wherein said zeolite is ZSM-12.
- 14. The process of claim 1 wherein said zeolite is ZSM-21.
- 15. The process of claim 1 wherein said zeolite is TEA mordenite.
- 16. The process of claim 1 wherein said catalyst is impregnated with zinc.
- 17. The process of claim 16 wherein the amount of zinc is at least about 1 percent by weight.
- 18. The process of claim 17 wherein the amount of zinc is about 1 to 4 percent by weight.
- 19. The process of claim 1 wherein said phosphorus compound has a covalent or ionic constituent capable of reacting with hydrogen ion.
