The disclosure and prior art relates to convertible furniture assemblies and more particularly pertains to a new convertible furniture assembly for selective use as a crib, bed and play pen.
An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a pair of end boards. Each of a pair of first railings is coupled to an opposing side edge of each end board. The end boards and the first railings are right angularly positioned. A frame is reversibly couplable to and extends between the end boards. The frame extends between the first railings. The assembly comprises a mattress that is substantially complementary to the frame. The frame and the pair of first railings are selectively vertically positionable between a top and a bottom of each end board. The frame is positioned to support the mattress in a crib configuration, a playpen configuration and a bed configuration. The first railings are selectively positionable for the crib configuration, the playpen configuration and the bed configuration.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
Each of a plurality of pins 32 is slidably positionable through an associated hole 34 that is positioned in a wall 36 of a respective lower nested section 30. The pin 32 is spring-loaded. In one embodiment, the plurality of pins 32 comprises pins 32 that are positioned in the balusters 26 positioned adjacent to the opposing side edges 16. A plurality of penetrations 38 is positioned through the upper nested section 28. Each pin 32 is positioned to selectively insert into a respective penetration 38. The pin 32 protrudes from the upper nested section 28. The lower nested section 30 is coupled to the upper nested section 28. The pin 32 is depressible to decouple the lower nested section 30 from the upper nested section 28, such that the railings are vertically adjustable between the top 18 and the bottom 20 of each end board 12.
A frame 40 is reversibly couplable to and extends between the end boards 12. The frame 40 extends between the first railings 14. The frame 40 is selectively vertically positionable between the tops 18 and the bottoms 20.
A plurality of rollers 42 is coupled to and extends from the end boards 12. The rollers 42 are positioned on the end boards 12 such that the rollers 42 are configured to roll across a surface. The plurality of rollers 42 comprises rollers 42 that extend singly from each of the bottoms 20 proximate to each of the opposing side edges 16. In one embodiment, the rollers 42 comprise wheels 44.
Each of a plurality of locks 46 is coupled to a respective roller 42. The lock 46 is reversibly couplable to the respective roller 42, such that the respective roller 42 is configured to resist locomotion across the surface.
A plurality of first couplers 48 is coupled to the end boards 12. The plurality of first couplers 48 comprises first couplers 48 that are positioned proximate to each opposing side edge 16 of each end board 12. In one embodiment, the plurality of first couplers 48 comprises two first couplers 48 positioned proximate to each opposing side edge 16. In another embodiment, the first couplers 48 are linearly arrayed between a respective top 18 and a respective bottom 20.
A plurality of second couplers 50 is coupled to opposing ends 52 of the frame 40. The second couplers 50 are complementary to the first couplers 48. The second couplers 50 are positioned to selectively reversibly couple to the first couplers 48 to couple the frame 40 to the end boards 12. In one embodiment, the second couplers 50 comprise latches 54 and the first couplers 48 comprise slots 56.
The assembly 10 comprises a mattress 58 that is substantially complementary to the frame 40. The frame 40 is selectively positionable between the tops 18 and the bottoms 20 such that the frame 40 is positioned to support the mattress 58.
A table 60 is selectively couplable to and extends between the top rails 22. The table 60 has an upper surface 62. In one embodiment, the upper surface 62 is concave. In another embodiment, the table 60 is padded. The table 60 is positioned to couple to the top rails 22 such that the table 60 is configured to position a child.
A plurality of hooks 64 is coupled to and extends from opposing endpoints 66 of the table 60. The hooks 64 are positioned on the table 60 such that the hooks 64 are positioned to reversibly couple to the top rails 22. In one embodiment, the plurality of hooks 64 comprises four hooks 64 distributed evenly among the opposing endpoints 66.
In another embodiment of the invention, each end board 12 comprises a second railing 68. The second railings 68 are hingedly coupled to the first railings 14. Each second railing 68 comprises a pair of hinges 70. The hinges 70 are positioned singly in an upper rod 72 and a lower rod 74 of the second railing 68. The hinges 70 are positioned equally distant from the opposing side edges 16, such that the second railing 68 is foldable.
In one embodiment, each top rail 22 and each bottom rail 24 comprises a tongue 76 and a groove 78. The tongue 76 and the groove 78 are positioned substantially equally distant from the second railings 68. The tongues 76 and the grooves 78 are positioned in the first railings 14 such that the second railings 68 are selectively distensible.
In use the frame 40 and the pair of first railings 14 are selectively positionable between the tops 18 and the bottoms 20. The frame 40 is positioned to support the mattress 58 in a crib configuration, a playpen configuration and a bed configuration. The first railings 14 are selectively positionable for the crib configuration, the playpen configuration and the bed configuration.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
