Claims
- 1. In a data processing environment having a user terminal which generates a service request for access to data employing a plurality of data base formats responsively coupled to said user terminal via a publically accessible digital data communication network, the improvement comprising:
a join service employing a data wizard which converts said data employing said plurality of data base formats into data having a single data base format.
- 2. The improvement according to claim 1 wherein said publically accessible digital data communication network further comprises the internet.
- 3. The improvement according to claim 2 wherein said user terminal further comprises an industry compatible personal computer having a commercially available browser.
- 4. The improvement according to claim 3 wherein said join service generates script for performing said converting.
- 5. The improvement according to claim 4 wherein said data base management system is Classic Mapper:
- 6. An apparatus comprising:
a. a user terminal requesting access to data employing a plurality of data base formats; b. a data base management system responsively coupled to said user terminal via a publically accessible digital data communication network; and c. a join service having a join service responsively coupled to said user terminal, said data employing said plurality of data base formats, and said data base management system which converts said data employing said plurality of data base formats to a format compatible with said data base management system.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 6 wherein said publically accessible digital data communication network further comprises the internet.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 7 further comprising script generated by said join service which converts said data employing said plurality of data base formats to said format compatible with said data base management system.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 8 wherein said user terminal further comprises an industry compatible personal computer containing a web browser.
- 10. The apparatus of claim 9 wherein said data base management system further comprises the MAPPER data base management system.
- 11. A method of converting data from a plurality of formats to a single format for presentation on a user terminal coupled via a publically accessible digital data network to a remote data base management system having a data base with said plurality of formats comprising:
a. specifying a desired format; b. retrieving said data within said plurality of formats; c. generating script within a join service by utilizing a data wizard to produce said presentation; and d. transferring said presentation to said user terminal.
- 12. A method according to claim 11 wherein said publically accessible digital data communication network further comprises the world wide web.
- 13. A method according to claim 12 wherein said user terminal further comprises an industry compatible personal computer.
- 14. A method according to claim 13 wherein said specifying step further comprises filling out an HTML form.
- 15. A method according to claim 14 wherein said remote data base management system further comprises MAPPER data base management system.
- 16. An apparatus comprising:
a. means for permitting a user to request a presentation of data within a plurality of formats from a digital data base management system; b. means responsively coupled to said permitting means via a publically accessible digital data communication network for storing said data within said plurality of formats; and c. means responsively coupled to said storing means and said permitting means for joining said data via a data wizard within said plurality of formats and for presenting said data on said user terminal.
- 17. An apparatus according to claim 16 wherein said changing means further comprises means for specifying said presentation as an HTML page.
- 18. An apparatus according to claim 17 wherein said joining means further comprises means for generating script to format said presentation.
- 19. An apparatus according to claim 18 wherein said storing means further comprises MAPPER data base management system.
- 20. An apparatus according to claim 19 wherein said permitting means further comprises an industry standard personal computer.
