Claims
- 1. In a data processing environment having a user terminal coupled to a publicly accessible digital communications network with service requests in a service-based structure and having a server responsively coupled to said user terminal via said publicly accessible digital communications network and having a data base management system with a service request in a dialog-based structure responsively coupled to said server, the improvement comprising:a. a template within said user terminal having user specifiable inputs which generates said service request in said dialog-based structure; b. a facility for storing said service request in said dialog-based structure within said server; c. wherein said publicly accessible digital communications network is the world wide web; and d. a repository with space for storage of said service request in said dialog-based structure.
- 2. The improvement according to claim 1 wherein said data base management system is Classic MAPPER.
- 3. An apparatus comprising:a. a user terminal; b. a publicly accessible digital communications network having a service-based request language coupled to said user terminal; c. a server responsively coupled to said user terminal via said publicly accessible digital communications network; d. a data base management system having a dialog-based request language responsively coupled to said server; e. a template having at least one data entry location within said user terminal which converts data entered into said at least one data entry location into said dialog-based request language; f. wherein said server has storage for said dialog-based request language; and g. a repository within said server for storing said dialog-based request language.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 3 wherein said publicly accessible digital communications network is the world wide web.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 4 wherein said user terminal is an industry compatible personal computer having a commercially available web browser.
- 6. A method of communicating between a user terminal utilizing service-based data requests and a data base management system employing dialog-based service requests comprising:a. accessing a template having a data entry location within said user terminal; b. entering data into said data entry location; c. converting said template with said entered data into a dialog-based data request; d. transmitting said dialog-based service request from said user terminal; e. receiving said dialog-based service request at said data base management system; f. executing said dialog-based service request by said data base management system; g. transferring a result from said executing step from said data base management system to said user terminal; h. storing said dialog-based service request within said data base management system; i. wherein said transmitting step further comprises transmitting over the world wide web; j. wherein said transferring step further comprises transferring over the world wide web; and k. wherein said data base management system further comprises Classic MAPPER data base management system.
- 7. An apparatus comprising:a. means including template means for permitting a user to interact with a digital data base; b. means responsively coupled to said permitting means for providing said user with access to a publicly accessible digital communication network via service-based requests; c. means responsively coupled to said permitting means for offering data processing services according to dialog-based requests; e. means within said permitting means for converting data entered into said template means into a dialog-based request; f. wherein said publicly accessible digital communication network further comprises the world wide web; g. means for storing said dialog-based request within said offering means; and h. wherein said offering means further comprises Classic MAPPER data base management system.
- 8. An apparatus according to claim 7 wherein said permitting means further comprises an industry standard personal computer.
