The present invention relates generally to the field of safety vest devices. More specifically, the present invention relates to a bright colored safety vest featuring multiple flaps on the back to release body heat. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices and methods of manufacture.
By way of background, this invention relates to improvements in safety vest devices. Generally, people required to wear safety vests throughout the day for work can get incredibly warm and uncomfortable due to increased body temperatures. Further, safety vests trap heat inside clothing and can cause significantly elevated body temperatures over time. Thus, people may be at risk of heat stroke, dehydration, and other heat related ailments while outdoors wearing a safety vest.
Furthermore, wearing poorly ventilated protective apparel is uncomfortable on warm days because poor ventilation causes excessive heat buildup. As a result, the user may discard the apparel on warm days. Alternatively, the user may partially unfasten the garment to provide some ventilation. However, wearing an unfastened garment or removing the safety garment altogether can be hazardous when working at dangerous construction sites, first responders, crossing guards, and other hazardous jobs.
Accordingly, there is a demand for an improved safety vest device that is a bright colored safety vest having multiple air flaps on the back. More particularly, there is a demand for a safety vest device that enables wind to blow through the vest for ventilation.
Therefore, there exists a long felt need in the art for a safety vest device that provides users with a bright colored safety vest featuring multiple flaps on the back to release body heat. There is also a long felt need in the art for a safety vest device that prevents body heat from being trapped within clothing, reducing the chance of suffering from various heat related ailments while working. Further, there is a long felt need in the art for a safety vest device that offers minimal impact on visibility while improving workplace safety. Moreover, there is a long felt need in the art for a device that enables wind to blow through the vest to keep cool. Further, there is a long felt need in the art for a safety vest device that can be used by construction workers, first responders, pedestrians, crossing guards, etc. Finally, there is a long felt need in the art for a safety vest device that can be available in different sizes and bright colors that adhere to workplace safety environments.
The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a safety vest device. The device is an improved safety vest for construction workers, first responders, pedestrians, crossing guards, etc. The safety vest device comprises a body component that is configured in the shape of a conventional vest or other suitable safety garment. The body component comprises a plurality of air flaps cut into the rear surface via a laser cutter or other suitable tool. The plurality of air flaps allow wind and cool air to pass through the body component, while warm body heat can escape. Users can wear the device to keep themselves cool, effectively preventing heat-related ailments like heat stroke, dehydration, etc. Further, the body component retains all visible properties of the safety garment to maintain optimal safety while in a work zone. Each device is available in different sizes and bright colors that adhere to workplace safety environments.
In this manner, the safety vest device of the present invention accomplishes all of the forgoing objectives and provides users with a device that features multiple air flaps for ventilation. The device is a plurality of air flaps cut into a rear surface of the safety vest. The device is available in different sizes and bright colors.
The following presents a simplified summary in order to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the disclosed innovation. In one embodiment, the safety vest device is a conventional safety garment utilized by construction workers, first responders, pedestrians, crossing guards, etc., or any other suitable workers of hazardous jobs who typically wear a safety garment while working.
In one embodiment, the safety vest device is a safety garment, such as a vest, jacket, poncho, etc. Typically, the safety vest device is configured as a conventional vest, worn around a user's chest and torso, and secured via a zipper or other suitable fastening means.
In one embodiment, the safety vest device comprises a body component that is configured in the shape of a conventional safety vest or other suitable safety garment. The safety vest of the present invention is double stitched and reinforced, and is preferably constructed primarily of heavy-duty, yet lightweight material such as canvas, nylon, or breathable mesh, etc. The safety vest illustrated is a one-piece, sleeveless vest featuring a back panel, and two chest panels held comfortably closed over the chest by way of a sturdy fastener means running down the front of the safety vest. The fastener means can be a zipper, snaps, buttons, or a hook and loop type fastener, such as a Velcro fastener, etc. Further, a long sleeve version of the safety vest is also envisioned.
In one embodiment, the safety vest device can be produced in highly conspicuous colors, such as florescent orange, florescent yellow, or florescent green hues, or any other suitable bright colors as is known in the art.
In one embodiment, running vertically down each side of the safety vest are reflective strips, and around the periphery and/or waist of the safety vest are reflective strips and/or a bright silver or comparable hue, thus further enhancing the visibility of the safety vest.
In one embodiment, positioned on either front panel of the safety vest is a plurality of ample storage pockets, inside of which the user can store any number of small supplies, goods or tools.
In one embodiment, the back panel of the safety vest comprises a plurality of air flaps cut into it. The plurality of air flaps can be any suitable shape and size as is known in the art, as long as the air flaps allow for air to flow through, to keep a user cool. Further, any suitable number of air flaps can be utilized as is known in the art. Typically, the air flaps are cut into the back panel via a laser cutter or other suitable cutting mechanism. The plurality of air flaps are sized and shaped to allow wind and cool air to pass through the safety vest while warm body heat can escape. The plurality of air flaps are generally configured in quadrilateral shapes, such as rectangular. However, different shapes for each, including those with curvilinear and/or rectilinear peripheries, such as circles, ovals and the like, can also be used and are to be considered as being within the scope of the present invention.
In one embodiment, application and use of the safety vest of the invention is very simple and straightforward. After purchasing a safety vest with the plurality of air flaps cut into it, in the appropriate size, the user utilizes the safety vest on the job. Sliding the safety vest up and over the body, the user then zips the front of the safety vest closed, making any necessary adjustments for a secure and comfortable fit. The user might then fill the safety vest pockets with items needed throughout the day, such as chalk, pencils, pens, snacks and tools, etc. The user can then go about the designated tasks, utilizing the safety vest's plurality of air flaps to keep themselves cool and prevent any heat related ailments, while working. After use, the safety vest is removed and stored away until again needed. Typically, the safety vest is for exterior wear, while a construction worker, first responder, crossing guard, etc., is working. Further, the plurality of air flaps keep a user cool, while still retaining all visible properties to maintain optimal safety while in a work zone.
In one embodiment, the safety vest device disclosed herein provides a number of significant benefits and advantages. First and foremost, the safety vest offers professionals employed in various construction fields and other hazardous jobs, a practical way in which to keep cool while working on the job, and to prevent body heat from being trapped within their clothing. The safety vest device discloses a lightweight and easily donned safety vest having a plurality of air flaps, which enables wind to blow through the safety vest to keep users cool, in a simple and comfortable manner. The safety vest also serves to ventilate users while working, such that the safety vest enables those employed in construction fields and other hazardous jobs to more safely and comfortably complete various aspects of their job even during extreme heat temperatures. Accordingly, the device improves worker safety, and use of the safety vest can potentially reduce heat related ailments on the job site, as well as the associated medical and insurance costs of these injuries.
Thus, the safety vest device offers users a practical way in which to release body heat and keep cool while on the job, and the safety vest device enables users to complete a variety of construction tasks in comfort and with ease. Further, the safety vest retains all visible properties to maintain optimal safety, while in a work zone. Thus, simple to use and durably constructed, the safety vest devices prove a valuable commodity in any work site.

Finally, the method comprises ventilating a user via the plurality of air flaps while wearing the safety vest device.

The present invention, in one exemplary embodiment, is a novel safety vest device for construction workers, first responders, pedestrians, crossing guards, etc. The safety vest device comprises a body component that is configured in the shape of a conventional vest or other suitable safety garment. Further, the safety vest device 100 is a safety garment, such as a vest, jacket, poncho, etc., or any other suitable garment as is known in the art. Typically, in most of the embodiments, the safety vest device 100 is configured as a conventional vest, worn around a user's chest and torso (as shown in the figures), and secured via a zipper or other suitable fastening means 110.
Additionally, the safety vest device 100 comprises a body component 102 that is configured in the shape of a conventional safety vest or other suitable safety garment. The safety vest 100 of the present invention is double stitched and reinforced, and is preferably constructed primarily of heavy-duty, yet lightweight material such as canvas, nylon, or breathable mesh, etc., or any other suitable lightweight material as is known in the art. The body component 102 of the device 100 may include advertising, a trademark, or other letters, designs, or characters, printed, painted, stamped, or integrated into the body component 102, or any other indicia 138 as is known in the art. Specifically, any suitable indicia 138 as is known in the art can be included, such as but not limited to, patterns, logos, emblems, images, symbols, designs, letters, words, characters, animals, advertisements, brands, etc., that may or may not be safety vest, air flap, or brand related.
