Claims
- 1. An aeration core harvesting machine connectable to a ground aerating machine having a coring mechanism for removing earthen aeration cores from the ground, said coring mechanism being movably supported on a frame including a rearwardly positioned cross frame member, comprising:
- a core guiding apparatus operatively interconnecting said aerating machine and said aeration core harvesting machine when connected to said aeration machine;
- a core collecting mechanism positioned adjacent to said core guiding apparatus to collect said aeration cores ejected from said coring mechanism guiding said aeration cores against said core guiding apparatus to convey said aeration cores rearwardly from said coring mechanism; and
- a core harvesting mechanism positioned rearwardly of said core collecting mechanism to receive said aeration cores therefrom for processing thereof.
- 2. The aeration core harvesting machine of claim 1 wherein said core guiding apparatus includes a core guide having a forward end connected to said coring mechanism to be movable therewith and a rearward end operatively associated with said frame of said ground aerating machine.
- 3. The aeration core harvesting machine of claim 2 wherein said coring mechanism moves in a path of movement with respect to said frame, said aeration cores being ejected from said coring mechanism as said path of movement passes adjacent to said core collection mechanism, said forward end of said core guide moving in said path of movement with said coring mechanism.
- 4. The aeration core harvesting machine of claim 3 wherein said core guide is flexible, said rearward end of said flexible core guide being connected in a fixed relationship to said cross frame member.
- 5. The aeration core harvesting machine of claim 4 wherein said core collecting mechanism is a rotatable brush apparatus, said path of movement passing into said brush apparatus.
- 6. The aeration core harvesting machine of claim 5 wherein said core harvesting mechanism includes a comb member projecting into said brush apparatus to facilitate the transfer of aeration cores from said brush apparatus into said core harvesting mechanism.
- 7. The aeration core harvesting machine of claim 5 wherein said forward end of said flexible core guide is provided with a comb member to assist in guiding ejected aeration cores into said brush apparatus.
- 8. The aeration core harvesting mechanism of claim 2 wherein said coring mechanism is movable relative to said cross frame member in a path of travel, the forward end of said core guide moving with said coring mechanism in said path of travel for varying the positional relationship between said core collecting mechanism and said core guide.
- 9. The aeration core harvesting mechanism of claim 8 wherein said core collecting mechanism comprises a rotary brush positioned relative to said coring mechanism such that said coring mechanism moves into engagement with said rotary brush as said aeration cores are being ejected from said coring mechanism.
- 10. An aeration core harvesting machine connectable to a ground aerating machine having a coring mechanism for removing aeration cores from the ground, said coring mechanism being movably supported on a frame including a rearwardly positioned cross frame member, comprising:
- a core collecting mechanism positioned adjacent to said coring mechanism to collect said aeration cores ejected therefrom to convey said aeration cores rearwardly from said coring mechanism without said aeration cores contacting the ground; and
- a core harvesting mechanism positioned rearwardly of said core collecting mechanism to receive said aeration cores therefrom for processing thereof.
- 11. The aeration core harvesting machine of claim 10 wherein said core harvesting machine is operable to disintegrate said aeration cores returning an earthen material to the ground and collecting a thatch portion of said aeration cores.
- 12. The aeration core harvesting machine of claim 11 wherein said core collecting mechanism includes a core guide having a forward end connected to said coring mechanism to be movable therewith and a rearward end operatively associated with said frame of said ground aerating machine.
- 13. The aeration core harvesting machine of claim 12 wherein said core guide is flexible, said rearward end of said flexible core guide being connected in a fixed relationship to said cross frame member.
- 14. The aeration core harvesting machine of claim 13 wherein said coring mechanism moves in a path of movement with respect to said frame, said aeration cores being ejected from said coring mechanism as said path of movement passes adjacent to said core collection mechanism, said forward end of said flexible core guide moving in said path of movement with said coring mechanism.
- 15. The aeration core harvesting machine of claim 14 wherein said core collecting mechanism is a rotatable brush apparatus, said path of movement passing into said brush apparatus.
- 16. The aeration core harvesting machine of claim 15 wherein said flexible core guide is positioned above and adjacent said core collection mechanism so that said core collecting mechanism can trap said aeration cores against said core guide to effect transfer to said core harvesting mechanism.
- 17. The aeration core harvesting machine of claim 15 wherein the rearward end of said flexible core guide is attached to said cross frame member of said aeration machine, the forward end of said flexible core guide being attached to said coring mechanism.
- 18. An aeration core harvesting machine for harvesting earthen aeration cores comprising:
- a frame adapted for movement over the ground;
- a rotatable core collecting mechanism to gather said earthen aeration cores and convey said earthen aeration cores rearwardly, said core collecting mechanism being rotatable about a generally horizontal, transverse axis of rotation in a manner to elevate said earthen aeration cores above said core collecting mechanism as said earthen aeration cores are conveyed rearwardly;
- a core harvesting mechanism positioned rearwardly of said core collecting mechanism to receive said aeration cores from said core collecting mechanism for processing thereof; and
- a core guide positioned above said core collecting mechanism to direct earthen aeration cores conveyed by said core collecting mechanism rearwardly toward said core harvesting mechanism.
- 19. The aeration core harvesting machine of claim 18 wherein said core guide has a forward end affixed to a ground aerating machine having a coring mechanism for removing aeration cores from the ground, said forward end of said core guide being movable with said coring mechanism, said core collecting mechanism being operable to collect said earthen aeration cores ejected from said coring mechanism and to convey said earthen aeration cores rearwardly from said coring mechanism to said core harvesting mechanism without said earthen aeration cores contacting the ground.
- 20. The aeration core harvesting machine of claim 19 wherein said core collection mechanism is a rotatable brush apparatus that engages said coring mechanism to collect said earthen aeration cores directly therefrom, said core guide being oriented in a curved configuration to conform to the circumference of said brush apparatus to be cooperable therewith to trap said earthen aeration cores against said core guide and thereby effect transfer of said earthen aeration cores to said core harvesting mechanism.
