Claims
- 52. A method for correcting a Global Positioning System (GPS) pseudo-range model for GPS satellite signals in a device having memory, the device in communication with a server, the method comprising:
- 53. The method of claim 52 wherein the corrections include pseudo-range corrections.
- 54. The method of claim 53 wherein the corrections include pseudo-range rate corrections.
- 55. The method of claim 52 wherein the almanac at the server and the almanac at the device are substantially identical.
- 56. The method of claim 52 wherein the pseudo-range model as improved is used to acquire the GPS satellite signals.
- 57. The method of claim 52 wherein the pseudo-range model as improved is used to compute position of the device.
- 58. A method for correcting a Global Positioning System (GPS) pseudo-range model for acquisition of GPS satellite signals in a mobile handheld device, the method comprising:
- 59. The method of claim 58 further comprising using the at least one correction to improve the first GPS pseudo-range model at the mobile handheld device.
- 60. The method of claim 59 wherein the at least one correction is a pseudo-range correction.
- 61. The method of claim 59 wherein the at least one correction is a pseudo-range rate correction.
- 62. The method of claim 59 wherein the first GPS satellite almanac and the second GPS satellite almanac are sufficiently similar such that the at least one correction is useful.
- 63. The method of claim 62 wherein the first GPS pseudo-range model as improved with the at least one correction is used to acquire the GPS satellite signals.
- 64. The method of claim 63 further comprising determining position of the mobile handheld device at the mobile handheld device with the first GPS pseudo-range model as improved with the at least one correction and with the GPS satellite signals acquired.
- 65. The method of claim 58 wherein the at least one correction is provided to the mobile handheld device via a portion of a cellular communication network.
- 66. A mobile handheld device for correcting a Global Positioning System (GPS) pseudo-range model for acquisition of GPS satellite signals, the mobile handheld device comprising:
- 67. The method of claim 66 wherein the at least one correction is a pseudo-range correction.
- 68. The method of claim 66 wherein the at least one correction is a pseudo-range rate correction.
- 69. The method of claim 66 wherein the first GPS satellite almanac and the second GPS satellite almanac are sufficiently similar such that the at least one correction is useful.
- 70. The method of claim 66 wherein the mobile handheld device is configured to acquire the GPS satellite signals using first GPS pseudo-range model as improved with the at least one correction.
- 71. The method of claim 70 wherein the mobile handheld device is configured to compute position of the mobile handheld device with the first GPS pseudo-range model as improved with the at least one correction and with the GPS satellite signals acquired.
