Claims
- 1. A corrugated knife fixture for cutting vegetable products such as potatoes, comprising:
at least one knife blade having a generally wave-shaped cutting edge defining a wave pitch and a wave amplitude, and wherein at least one of said wave pitch and said wave amplitude progressively increases along the length of said cutting edge.
- 2. The corrugated knife fixture of claim 1 wherein both of said wave pitch and said wave amplitude progressively increase in a common direction along the length of said cutting edge.
- 3. The corrugated knife fixture of claim 1 wherein said at least one knife blade includes a tip end and heel end with said cutting edge extending therebetween, and wherein at least one of said wave pitch and said wave amplitude progressively increases along the length of said cutting edge from said tip end to said heel end.
- 4. The corrugated knife fixture of claim 3 wherein said cutting edge further defines a relatively short straight segment at said tip end of said knife blade.
- 5. The corrugated knife fixture of claim 3 wherein both of said wave pitch and said wave amplitude progressively increase along the length of said cutting edge from said tip end to said heel end of said knife blade.
- 6. The corrugated knife fixture of claim 3 wherein said at least one knife blade comprises a pair of said knife blades oriented generally at an acute angle relative to each other, with said tip ends of said pair of knife blades disposed generally on a common axis.
- 7. The corrugated knife fixture of claim 6 wherein each of said pair of knife blades further defines a relatively short straight segment at said tip end thereof.
- 8. The corrugated knife fixture of claim 3 wherein said at least one knife blade comprises a plurality of knife blades, and further including a fixture housing defining a passage for the products to be cut and supporting said knife blades with said tip ends thereof disposed generally on a common axis through said passage, said knife blades each extending generally radially outwardly from said common axis with said heel ends of said knife blades supported by said fixture housing, whereby said knife blades are oriented within said passage for cutting products passed therethrough into a plurality of generally wedge-shaped pieces.
- 9. The corrugated knife fixture of claim 8 wherein both of said wave pitch and said wave amplitude progressively increases along the length of said cutting edge from said tip end to said heel end of each of said knife blades.
- 10. The corrugated knife fixture of claim 8 wherein each of said knife blades further defines a relatively short straight segment at said tip end thereof.
- 11. The corrugated knife fixture of claim 8 further including means for delivering a succession of products through said knife fixture passage for cutting.
- 12. A corrugated knife fixture for cutting vegetable products such as potatoes, comprising:
a plurality of knife blades each having a tip end and a heel end with a generally wave-shaped cutting edge extending therebetween, said cutting edge defining a wave pitch and a wave amplitude, and wherein at least one of said wave pitch and said wave amplitude progressively increases along the length of said cutting edge from said tip end to said heel end of said knife blade; and means for supporting said plurality of knife blades with said tip ends thereof oriented generally on a common axis, and extending generally radially outwardly from said common axis.
- 13. The corrugated knife fixture of claim 12 wherein both of said wave pitch and said wave amplitude progressively increase along the length of said cutting edge from said tip end to said heel end of each of said knife blades.
- 14. The corrugated knife fixture of claim 12 wherein said cutting edge of each of said knife blades further defines a relatively short straight segment at said tip end thereof.
- 15. The corrugated knife fixture of claim 12 wherein said supporting means supports plurality of said knife blades with each adjacent pair of said knife blades oriented generally at an acute angle relative to each other for cutting the products into generally wedge-shaped pieces defined a pair of cut surfaces oriented generally at an acute angle relative to each other.
- 16. The corrugated knife fixture of claim 15 wherein said supporting means comprises a fixture housing defining a passage for the products to be cut and supporting said knife blades with said tip ends thereof disposed generally on a common axis through said passage, said knife blades each extending generally radially outwardly from said common axis with said heel ends of said knife blades supported by said fixture housing, whereby said knife blades are oriented within said passage for cutting products passed therethrough into a plurality of generally wedge-shaped pieces.
- 17. The corrugated knife fixture of claim 16 further including means for delivering a succession of products through said knife fixture passage for cutting.
- 18. A cut vegetable product, comprising:
a generally wedge-shaped piece defining a pair of cut surfaces oriented generally at an acute angle and each extending and angularly diverging from a common tip to a heel; each of said cut surfaces defining a generally wave-shaped configuration with a wave pitch and a wave amplitude, and further wherein at least one of said wave pitch and said wave amplitude for each of said cut surfaces increases progressively from said tip to said heel.
- 19. The cut vegetable product of claim 18, wherein both of said wave pitch and said wave amplitude for each of said cut surfaces increases progressively from said tip to said heel.
- 20. The cut vegetable product of claim 18 wherein each of said cut surfaces further defines a relatively short straight segment at said tip.
- 21. The cut vegetable product of claim 18 wherein said product comprises a potato.
