Claims
- 1. A shampoo composition comprising an aqueous solution of a quaternized polymer containing units of the formula ##STR38## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 each independently represent a hydrocarbon group, or at least one of the pairs R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3, R.sub.4 represents together with the nitrogen atom to which it is attached a heterocycle optionally containing an oxygen or sulfur heteroatom;
- A.sub.1 and A.sub.2, each independently, represent linear or branched alkylene or arylene, substituted or not, containing up to 20 carbon atoms;
- X represents a bivalent group of the formula ##STR39##
- --CO--NH--, (e)
- --CO--O--, (f)
- --O--CO--NH--, (g)
- --CO--X.sub.2 --CO--, (h)
- --CO--X'.sub.2 --CO--, (i)
- or
- --O--CO--X.sub.3 --CO--O--, (j)
- wherein
- y is equal to 0 or 1,
- R.sub.5, R.sub.6, R.sub.7, R.sub.8, R.sub.9 and R.sub.10 represent hydrogen or lower alkyl,
- X.sub.1 represents alkylene, alkylene including an --S--S-- group, alkenylene, arylene, diaminoalkylene, diaminoarylene, dioxyalkylene, dioxyarylene or polyoxyalkylene, or X.sub.1 represents a direct covalent bond,
- X.sub.2 represents diaminoalkylene, dioxyalkylene or polyoxyalkylene bivalent group,
- X'.sub.2 represents dithioalkylene,
- X.sub.3 represents alkylene, cycloalkylene, arylene, diaminoalkylene, diaminocycloalkylene or diaminoarylene,
- A.sub.3 represents --B.sub.1 --Y--B.sub.2, wherein B.sub.1 and B.sub.2 represent alkylene or arylene and Y has the same meaning as X above, or
- Y represents ##STR40## or A.sub.3 is a linear or branched alkylene group
- (1) substituted by at least one .dbd.O group, or
- (2) interrupted by at least one heteroatom or heteroatom group of oxygen, sulfur or nitrogen, or
- (3) interrupted by at least one arylene, or
- (4) substituted by at least one .dbd.O group and interrupted by at least one heteroatom or heteroatom group of oxygen, sulfur or nitrogen, or
- (5) substituted by at least one .dbd.O group and interrupted by at least one arylene, or
- (6) interrupted by at least one heteroatom or heteroatom group of oxygen, sulfur or nitrogen, and interrupted by at least one arylene, or
- (7) substituted by at least one .dbd.O group and interrupted by at least one heteroatom or heteroatom group of oxygen, sulfur or nitrogen and interrupted by at least one arylene, or
- A.sub.3 represents --B.sub.3 --Y.sub.1 --B.sub.4, wherein B.sub.3 and B.sub.4 represent arylene and Y.sub.1 represents linear or branched alkylene, or linear or branched alkylene substituted by at least one --OH or .dbd.O group, or Y.sub.1 represents a heteroatom selected from oxygen, sulfur or nitrogen, or
- A.sub.3 represents
- --E--O--D).sub.z O--E-- (a)
- or
- --E--O--G--O--E--, (b)
- wherein
- z is a number ranging from 2 to 600,
- E represents alkylene having 1-4 carbon atoms or --CH.sub.2 --CHOH--CH.sub.2 --,
- D represents a bivalent hydrocarbon group containing 1-5 carbon atoms, and
- G represents alkylene, cycloalkylene, arylene or aralkylene, or
- when X is other than --CO--X.sub.2 --CO--, A.sub.3 represents linear or branched alkylene or hydroxyalkylene, alkenylene or hydroxyalkenylene, cycloalkylene, or cycloalkenylene, containing up to 20 carbon atoms;
- and Z.sup..crclbar. represents a halide anion;
- with the proviso that when X represents --NH--CO--NH--, A.sub.3 represents --E--O--D).sub.z O--E-- or --B.sub.1 --Y--B.sub.2, wherein Y has the meaning given for X above except for the value --NH--CO--NH--, or A.sub.3 represents --E--O--G--O--E-- wherein E and G have the meanings given above with the proviso that E and G are not simultaneously alkylene;
- and an effective amount of at least one of a cationic, nonionic, anionic or amphoteric detergent, or a mixture thereof.
- 2. The shampoo composition of claim 1 wherein said detergent is present in an amount from 3 to 50 percent by weight of said composition.
- 3. The shampoo composition of claim 1 wherein said polymer is present in an amount between 0.1 and 5 percent based on the total weight of said composition.
- 4. The shampoo composition of claim 1 wherein said polymer is present in an amount between 0.25 and 5 percent based on the total weight of said composition.
- 5. A shampoo composition comprising an aqueous solution of a quaternized polymer containing units of the formula ##STR41## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 each independently represent a hydrocarbon group, or at least one of the pairs R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3, R.sub.4 represents together with the nitrogen atom to which it is attached a heterocycle optionally containing an oxygen or sulfur heteroatom;
- A.sub.1 and A.sub.2, each independently, represent linear or branched alkylene or arylene, substituted or not, containing up to 20 carbon atoms;
- X represents a bivalent group of the formula ##STR42##
- --CO--NH--, (d)
- --CO--O--, (e)
- --O--CO--NH--, (f)
- --CO--X.sub.2 --CO--, (g)
- --CO--X'.sub.2 --CO--, (h)
- or
- --O--CO--X.sub.3 --CO--O--, (i)
- wherein
- y is equal to 0 or 1,
- R.sub.5, R.sub.6, R.sub.7, R.sub.8, R.sub.9 and R.sub.10 represent hydrogen or lower alkyl,
- X.sub.1 represents alkylene, alkylene including an --S--S-- group, alkenylene, arylene, diaminoalkylene, diaminoarylene, dioxyalkylene, dioxyarylene or polyoxyalkylene, or X.sub.1 represents a direct covalent bond,
- X.sub.2 represents diaminoalkylene, dioxyalkylene or polyoxyalkylene bivalent group,
- X'.sub.2 represents dithioalkylene,
- X.sub.3 represents alkylene, cycloalkylene, arylene, diaminoalkylene, diaminocycloalkylene or diaminoarylene,
- A.sub.3 represents --B.sub.1 --Y--B.sub.2, wherein B.sub.1 and B.sub.2 represent alkylene or arylene and Y has the same meaning as X above, or
- Y represents ##STR43## or A.sub.3 is a linear or branched alkylene group
- (1) substituted by at least one .dbd.O group, or
- (2) interrupted by at least one heteroatom or heteroatom group of oxygen, sulfur or nitrogen, or
- (3) interrupted by at least one arylene, or
- (4) substituted by at least one .dbd.O group and interrupted by at least one heteroatom or heteroatom group of oxygen, sulfur or nitrogen, or
- (5) substituted by at least one .dbd.O group and interrupted by at least one arylene, or
- (6) interrupted by at least one heteroatom or heteroatom group of oxygen, sulfur or nitrogen, and interrupted by at least one arylene, or
- (7) substituted by at least one .dbd.O group and interrupted by at least one heteroatom or heteroatom group of oxygen, sulfur or nitrogen and interrupted by at least one arylene, or
- A.sub.3 represents --B.sub.3 --Y.sub.1 --B.sub.4, wherein B.sub.3 and B.sub.4 represent arylene and Y.sub.1 represents linear or branched alkylene, or linear or branched alkylene substituted by at least one --OH or .dbd.O group, or Y.sub.1 represents a heteroatom selected from oxygen, sulfur or nitrogen, or
- A.sub.3 represents
- --E--O--D).sub.z O--E-- (a)
- or
- --E--O--G--O--E--, (b)
- wherein
- z is a number ranging from 2 to 600,
- E represents alkylene having 1-4 carbon atoms or --CH.sub.2 --CHOH--CH.sub.2 --,
- D represents a bivalent hydrocarbon group containing 1-5 carbon atoms, and
- G represents alkylene, cycloalkylene, arylene or aralkylene, or
- when X is other than --CO--X.sub.2 --CO--, A.sub.3 represents linear or branched alkylene or hydroxyalkylene, alkenylene or hydroxyalkenylene, cycloalkylene, or cycloalkenylene, containing up to 20 carbon atoms;
- and Z.sup..crclbar. represents a halide anion;
- and an effective amount of at least one of a cationic, nonionic, anionic or amphoteric detergent, or a mixture thereof.
