Claims
- 1. A coupling for a medical catheter, comprising two separate members releasably engageable with each other, and including an enclosure structure positionable to form a substantially sealed enclosure around the connection between the members, the enclosure structure including two parts secured together by a fastening device and defining openings at opposite ends thereof for the respective members to extend therethrough, the two parts of the enclosure structure having interiors configured to form labyrinth-type seal arrangements around the respective members at the openings.
- 2. A coupling according to claim 1, wherein the two parts of the enclosure structure form a capsule and the fastening device is arranged to be destroyed by opening the capsule.
- 3. A coupling according to claim 1, wherein the two parts when secured together define a slot, and a key is provided and is insertable into the slot for opening the capsule.
- 4. A coupling according to claim 1, wherein the two parts are hinged together.
- 5. A coupling according to claim 1, wherein the fastening device forms a snap connection between the two parts.
- 6. A coupling according to claim 1, wherein the two members comprise a female member having a socket, and a male member having a spigot engageable in the socket with a push fit, a cap attached to one of the members and rotationally engageable with the other member to secure the spigot against disengagement from the socket, a locking arrangement to lock the cap against rotation in the direction of disengagement from said other member, the enclosure structure being positionable to enclose coupled socket and spigot, the cap and the locking arrangement.
