Claims
- 1. An insulative cover for insulating a P-trap drain piping assembly located under a sink including multiple pipe sections joined at junctures, the cover comprising:
- a J-shaped piece having an end;
- a second piece having a first and second end;
- when placed over the respective pipe sections of said piping assembly, the end of the J-shaped piece being adjacent the first end of the second piece at a pipe juncture;
- the second piece operable to be slid along the length of its respective pipe section and dimensioned shorter than the respective pipe section to leave an exposed portion of the respective pipe section proximate the second end, the second piece further operable to be slid upwardly on the respective pipe section away from the juncture such that the second end of the second piece covers the exposed pipe section and the first end exposes the juncture so that the pipe sections may be joined together with a pipe fastening structure and then slid downwardly on the pipe section to partially cover the juncture with the first end and uncover the exposed pipe section proximate the second end.
- 2. An insulative cover as in claim 1 wherein the first end of the second piece is dimensioned to telescopically engage the end of the J-shaped piece to provide complete coverage of the juncture, one of the second and the J-shaped pieces having an end portion of generally uniform diameter which includes a stop projection extending inwardly of the portion and operable to stop the telescopic engagement of the straight piece lower end the J-shaped piece first end at a predetermined position.
- 3. An insulative cover as in claim 2 wherein the end portion is located on the second piece proximate the first end and is dimensioned to telescopically extend over the end of the J-shaped piece, the stop projection being dimensioned to abut with the J-shaped piece end.
- 4. An insulative cover as in claim 2 wherein the end portion is located on the second piece proximate the first end and is dimensioned to telescopically extend over the end of the J-shaped piece, the stop projection being dimensioned to abut with the pipe fastening structure at said pipe juncture.
- 5. An insulative cover as in claim 2 wherein the stop projection is an annular rib extending inwardly around the end.
- 6. An insulative cover as in claim 2 wherein the end portion is located on the J-shaped piece and is dimensioned to telescopically extend over the first end of the second piece, the stop projection being dimensioned to abut with the second piece first end.
- 7. An insulative cover as in claim 2 further comprising a collar structure configured to fit on the respective pipe section proximate the straight piece second end and dimensioned to at least partially cover the exposed pipe portion when the straight piece is slid downwardly to cover the juncture.
- 8. An insulative cover as in claim 7 wherein the collar structure is dimensioned to slide with respect to the second piece to be slid over the exposed pipe portion after the juncture has been covered.
- 9. An insulative cover as in claim 7 wherein the collar structure has opposing ends and is operable to be wrapped around the exposed pipe portion after the juncture has been covered and fastened at its ends to form a continuous collar structure to cover the exposed portion.
- 10. An insulative cover as in claim 7 wherein the collar structure is flexible and may be folded back away from the exposed section when the second piece is slid upwardly and then folded forward to cover the exposed portion when the second piece is slid downwardly.
