Claims
- 1. An insulative cover for insulating a P-trap drain piping assembly located under a sink including multiple pipe sections joined at junctures, the cover comprising:
- a first J-shaped piece to be placed over a pipe section and having first and second ends;
- a second, generally straight piece to be placed over a pipe section and having an end;
- when placed over the respective pipe sections of said piping assembly, the first end of the first piece being adjacent the end of the straight piece at a pipe juncture;
- a collar structure having opposing ends which include cooperating structures, the cooperating structures being joinable for joining the ends together and separatable for readily separating the ends of the collar structure, the collar structure thereby operable to be wrapped around the juncture after the pipe sections are joined together at said juncture to form a continuous collar structure around the juncture and subsequently unwrapped and removed to allow work at said pipe juncture, whereby the collar structure and cover pieces form a generally continuous insulative cover over the joined pipe sections of the P-trap assembly, while still allowing ready access to the juncture if desired.
- 2. An insulative cover as in claim 1 further comprising:
- an L-shaped piece to be placed over a pipe section and having an end;
- when placed over the respective pipe sections of said P-trap assembly, the first end of the J-shaped piece being adjacent the end of the straight piece at a forward pipe juncture and the second end of the J-shaped piece being adjacent the end of the L-shaped piece at a rearward pipe juncture;
- the collar structure operable to be wrapped around one of the forward and rearward junctures when the pipe sections are joined together at the juncture.
- 3. An insulative cover as in claim 1 wherein the cooperating structures include opposing hook and loop pieces at the opposing ends of the collar structure which are used for joining and separating the ends of the continuous collar structure.
- 4. An insulative cover as in claim 1 wherein the cooperating structures include a tab at one opposing end and a slot at the other end to receive the tab for joining and separating the ends of the continuous collar structure.
- 5. An insulative cover as in claim 1 wherein the cooperating structures include a tongue at one opposing end and a groove at the other end to receive the tongue for joining and separating the ends of the continuous collar structure.
- 6. A method for insulating a P-trap drain piping assembly located under a sink including multiple pipe sections joined at junctures, the method, comprising:
- placing a first J-shaped cover piece having an end over a pipe section;
- placing a second, generally straight cover piece having an end over another pipe section;
- positioning the first and second cover pieces such that the ends of the pieces are adjacent one another at the juncture;
- wrapping a collar structure having opposing ends around the juncture;
- the collar structure having ends which include cooperating structures, the cooperating structures being joinable for joining the ends together and separatable for readily separating the ends of the collar and;
- joining the cooperating structures at the ends to form a continuous collar structure such that the collar structure and cover pieces form a generally continuous insulative cover over the joined pipe sections of the P-trap assembly.
