The disclosure relates to laundry basket devices and more particularly pertains to a new laundry basket device for covering a top opening of a laundry basket while transporting laundry.
An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a cover having an inner surface, an outer surface, and a perimeter edge extending around and between the inner surface and the outer surface, the perimeter edge defining an opening into an interior space of the cover defined by the inner surface. A hem extends around the opening defining a channel extending around the opening. A line extends through the channel for gathering the opening coupling the cover to a laundry basket by positioning the cover over a top opening of the laundry basket while the perimeter edge engages and retains the cover on the laundry basket.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
A cover 24 has an inner surface 26, an outer surface 28, and a perimeter edge 30 extending around and between the inner surface 26 and the outer surface 28. The perimeter edge 30 defines an opening 32 into an interior space 34 of the cover 24 defined by the inner surface 26. The cover 24 may be flexible and resiliently stretchable. The cover 24 is opaque wherein the cover 24 is configured for concealing laundry 36 positioned in the laundry basket 12. The cover 24 is also constructed of a machine washable material such as terrycloth, cotton, polyester, or the like. Thus, the cover 24 is configured for being washed with laundry 36 from the laundry basket 12 wherein the laundry 36 and cover 24 are both clean when the cover 24 is placed over the laundry 36 after washing. A hem 38 extends around the opening 32 defining a channel 40 extending around the opening 32. The hem 38 and channel 40 may extend a full circumference around the opening 32. A line 42 is coupled to the cover 24 and extends through the channel 40 wherein the line 42 is configured for gathering the opening 32 such that the cover 24 is configured for coupling to the laundry basket 12 by positioning the cover 24 to extend over the top opening 20 of the laundry basket 12 while the perimeter edge 30 engages and retains the cover 24 on the laundry basket 12. The line 42 may be a drawstring or a resilient stretchable loop 44.
In use, the cover 24 is coupled to the laundry basket 12 extending over the top opening 20. The cover 24 increases capacity of the laundry basket 12 without having laundry 28 falling out of the laundry basket 12 over the top edge 18 as the laundry basket 12 is transported within a dwelling or to a remote location such as a laundry mat. The cover 24 is removed and the laundry 28 may be washed with the cover 24 such that the cover 24 is clean when placed back over the laundry 28 after washing.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
