This application is in the field of fitted bed sheets.
Fitted crib sheets and/or mattress sheets are used to protect a mattress for babies and/or toddlers. Generally fitted crib sheets are all the same size to accommodate a crib mattress or toddler bed. The fitted sheet fits over the crib mattress.
Many baby cribs are slatted. They have slats on all four sides to provide an open space feeling for a baby. At least one issue with the slats on baby cribs is that a baby can easily get limbs stuck between the slats, for example, an arm or a leg. If this happens, a baby generally cries until a parent comes to help the baby remove his or her limb.
Additionally, many cribs are made out of wood. If and when a baby rolls, the baby may hit his or her head against the hard wood. This is painful and can once again cause a baby to cry until a parent come to soothe the baby.
A fitted crib sheet with bumper paddings may be described herein. The bumper may be attached to a base crib sheet with a zipper, or the like. The zipper may be stitched around or near the border of the base fitted crib sheet, on all sides. A second fitted crib sheet may be stitched around or close to the border to cover the zipper of the bumper paddings.

While this invention is described in terms of modes for achieving this invention's objectives, it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that variations may be accomplished in view of these teachings without deviating from the spirit or scope of the present invention. The embodiments and variations of the invention described herein, and/or shown in the drawings, are presented by way of example only and are not limiting as to the scope of the invention.
Unless otherwise specifically stated, individual aspects and components of the invention may be omitted or modified, or may have substituted therefore known equivalents, or as yet unknown substitutes such as may be developed in the future or such as may be found to be acceptable substitutes in the future. The invention may also be modified for a variety of applications while remaining within the spirit and scope of the claimed invention, since the range of potential applications is great, and since it is intended that the present invention be adaptable to many such variations.
A fitted crib sheet with bumper paddings may be described herein. The bumper may be attached to a base crib sheet with a zipper, or the like. The zipper may be stitched around or near the border of the base fitted crib sheet, on all sides. A second fitted crib sheet may be stitched around or close to the border to cover the zipper of the bumper paddings.
As described herein the fitted crib sheet may be used for either a crib or toddler bed. Additionally, as described herein the fitted crib sheet may refer to a crib sheet or a fitted bed sheet, for example, a bed sheet used for a toddler bed.
This second fitted crib sheet may not be detachable. The second fitted crib sheet may cover and secure the bumper paddings once the bumper paddings are attached to the base fitted crib sheet itself.
The base fitted crib sheet with the bumper may reduce cumulative trauma of a child's head and/or other body parts, for example, hands, feet, legs, arms, and the like. In addition, the bumper may improve a child's sleep. Additionally, the fitted crib sheet with bumper paddings may contain breathable materials to reduce death or suffocation as a result of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
The base fitted crib sheet may be made up of a soft fabric that includes one or more types of fibers. For example, the fibers may be cotton, polyester, spandex, or the like. The base fitted crib sheet may have an elastic band along the edges of the fabric to secure the base fitted crib sheet onto the underside of the mattress.
The base fitted crib sheet may include a separating zipper that surrounds the top of the base fitted crib sheet. The separating zipper may be close to all sides of the base fitted crib sheet and may be along or close to the edge of the mattress. The separating zipper may either completely or partially surround the top side of the base fitted crib sheet. The separating zipper may allow the bumper paddings to join onto the base fitted crib sheet.
The bumper paddings may be round or circular in shape. The bumper padding may also be tube-shaped. The bumper padding may also be triangular or rectangular in shape. The bumper paddings may be made of cotton, polyester, foam or some other soft material.
The bumper padding may have a separating zipper attachment to join the bumper padding to the base fitted crib sheet. The bumper padding may be attached around or close to the edge of the base fitted crib sheet.
A second fitted crib sheet may be made of the same material as the base fitted crib sheet or some other soft fabric. One side of the second fitted crib sheet may be sewed or stitched to the top of the base fitted crib sheet. Additionally, the second fitted crib sheet may be bonded to the base fitted crib sheet. The second fitted crib sheet may have an elastic band to help secure the second fitted crib sheet to the underside of the mattress.
There may be a belt, straps, or the like, with buckles for added security. The belt or straps may be underneath the mattress. The belt or straps may be positioned and stitched onto the four corners of the second fitted crib sheet.
Bumper padding 203 may attach to the base fitted crib sheet 202 at the zipper 204. The bumper padding 203 may be one piece or may be multi-piece. The bumper padding 203 may have a separating zipper attachment to join the bumper padding 203 to the base fitted crib sheet 202. The bumper padding 203 may be attached around or close to the edge of the base fitted crib sheet 202.
The second fitted crib sheet 505 may have an elastic band to help secure the second fitted crib sheet 505 to the underside of the mattress. The second fitted crib sheet 505 may cover the bumper padding 503.
It should be noted that the features illustrated in the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale, and features of one embodiment may be employed with other embodiments as the skilled artisan would recognize, even if not explicitly stated herein. Descriptions of well-known components and processing techniques may be omitted so as to not unnecessarily obscure the embodiments.

The invention is capable of myriad modifications in various obvious aspects, all without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention. Accordingly, the drawings and descriptions are to be regarded as illustrative in nature and not restrictive.
