Claims
- 1. A para-ordered optically anisotropic aromatic heterocyclic polymer having repeating groups of the formula: ##STR5## wherein Y is --O--, or --NH--, n is 1 or 2, and R is an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
- 2. The polymer of claim 1 wherein Y is --O--.
- 3. The polymer of claim 2 wherein n is 1.
- 4. The polymer of claim 2 wherein n is 2.
- 5. The polymer of claim 4 wherein each R is --CH.sub.3.
- 6. The polymer of claim 1 wherein Y is --NH--.
- 7. The polymer of claim 6 wherein n is 1.
- 8. The polymer of claim 7 wherein R is --CH.sub.3.
- 9. The polymer of claim 6 wherein n is 2.
- 10. The polymer of claim 9 wherein each R is --CH.sub.3.
