Claims
- 1. A lid for a cryogenic storage unit, said lid comprising:
- a peripheral section having an upper side and a lower side;
- a seal extending around the lower side of said peripheral section;
- a central section disposed radially inwardly of said seal and having an upper side and a lower side; and,
- a vent path formed in the lid and opening to the lower side of said central section at one end and wherein said peripheral section includes a front and rear side and said vent path opens through said peripheral section at said rear side.
- 2. The lid of claim 1 further comprising a valve operatively connected with said vent path for regulating gas flow through said vent path.
- 3. The lid of claim 1 further comprising a valve operatively connected with said vent path for regulating gas flow through said vent.
- 4. A lid for a cryogenic storage unit, said lid comprising:
- a peripheral section having an upper side and a lower side:
- a seal extending around the lower side of said peripheral section:
- a central section disposed radially inwardly of said seal and having an upper side and a lower side;
- a vent path formed in the lid and opening to the lower side of said central section at one end and opening through one of said central section and said peripheral section at another end: and
- wherein said central section extends downwardly from the lower side of said peripheral section and said vent path extends upwardly through said central section and sidewardly through said peripheral section.
- 5. A lid for a cryogenic storage unit, said lid comprising:
- a peripheral section having an upper side and a lower side;
- a seal extending around the lower side of said peripheral section;
- a central section disposed radially inwardly of said seal and having an upper side and a lower side; and
- a vent path formed in the lid and opening to the lower side of said central section at one end and wherein said peripheral section includes a rear edge having at least one hinge mounting surface and said vent path opens through said peripheral section at said rear edge.
- 6. A lid for a cryogenic storage unit, said lid comprising:
- a peripheral section having an upper side and a lower side;
- a first seal extending around the lower side of said peripheral section;
- a central section disposed radially inwardly of said first seal and having an upper side and a lower side;
- a vent path formed in the lid and opening to the lower side of said central section at one end and opening through one of said central section and said peripheral section at another end; and
- a second seal affixed to the lower side of said peripheral section at a location spaced radially inwardly of said first seal and surrounding said central section.
- 7. The lid of claim 6 wherein said seal is a magnetic gasket.
- 8. A lid for a cryogenic storage unit, said lid comprising:
- a peripheral section having an upper side and a lower side;
- a seal extending around the lower side of said peripheral section;
- a central section disposed radially inwardly of said seal and having an upper side and a lower side; and
- a vent path leading from the lower side of said central section through a rear side of said peripheral section and including a flap valve mounted at the rear side of said peripheral section for controlling gas flow through said vent path.
- 9. A lid for a cryogenic storage unit, said lid comprising:
- a peripheral section having an upper side and a lower side;
- a seal extending around the lower side of said peripheral section;
- a central section disposed radially inwardly of said seal and having an upper side and a lower side; and
- a vent path formed within said peripheral section and said central section, said central section extending away from said peripheral section such that said central section is adapted to extend downwardly into a storage chamber of said cryogenic storage unit, said vent path extending through both said central section and said peripheral section.
