Claims
- 1. The process for the production of the compound having the formula ##STR4## denominated esterastin, which comprises cultivating an esterastin-producing strain of Streptomyces lavendulae having the identifying characteristics of A.T.C.C. 31336 under submerged aerobic conditions in a nutrient medium containing assimilable carbon and nitrogen sources for a period of time sufficient to produce a substantial amount of esterastin in the culture medium and recovering esterastin from said medium.
- 2. A process according to claim 1 in which the esterastin-producing strain is Streptomyces ATCC 31336.
- 3. A process according to claim 1 in which the microorganism is cultivated at a temperature of 27.degree. C. to 37.degree. C. under aerobic conditions.
- 4. A process according to claim 1 in which the microorganism is cultivated at a temperature of 25.degree. C. to 35.degree. C. for a period of 2 to 4 days under aerobic conditions.
