Claims
- 1. A method for enhancing the rate of sulfur vulcanization of a sulfur vulcanizable elastomer or blend of elastomer selected from the group consisting of natural rubber polybutadiene, polyisoprene, styrene/butadiene copolymers, terpolymers of acrylonitrile butadiene and styrene and blends thereof which comprises adding to said elastomer a compound or compounds of the structural formula: ##STR25## wherein X is a radical of the structural formula:
- --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --NH--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --.sub.y
- wherein y can equal 0, 1, 2, or 3.
- 2. A method according to claim 1 wherein y is 0.
- 3. The compound of claim 1 wherein said compound is of the structural formula: ##STR26## wherein X is a radical of the structural formula:
- --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --NH--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --.sub.y
- wherein y can equal 0, 1, 2, or 3.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein said compound is of the structural formula: ##STR27## wherein X is a radical of the structural formula:
- --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --NH--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --.sub.y
- wherein y can equal 0, 1, 2, or 3.
- 5. The method of claim 3 wherein y is 0.
- 6. The method of claim 4 wherein y is 0.
- 7. The method of claim 6 wherein said elastomer is natural rubber.
