- 149. The method of claim 137, wherein the step of determining the packaging instructions comprises the steps of:
applying one or more cubing rules to the information associated with the parts to arrive at a conclusion; and using the conclusion to dictate an optimized arrangement of the parts within a specified container.
- 150. A method of illustrating a function of a packaging system for packaging at least one part, comprising the steps of:
identifying the at least one part to be packaged; accessing a database containing information relating to the at least one part; providing packaging instructions related to the at least one part; and displaying the packaging instructions for review.
- 151. The method of claim 150, wherein the step of providing packaging instructions comprises the step of retrieving a predetermined set of packaging instructions associated with the at least one part.
- 152. The method of claim 150, wherein the step of providing packaging instructions comprises the step of determining the packaging instructions using the information in the database.
- 153. A method of illustrating a function of a packaging system for packaging at least one part, comprising the steps of:
identifying at least one characteristic of a part to be packaged; accessing a database having packaging design rules to determine a packaging methodology based on the at least one characteristic; and displaying the packaging instructions for review.
- 154. The method of claim 153, wherein the characteristics of the part to be packaged comprise at least one of a weight, a size, a shape and a fragility.
- 155. A packaging system, comprising:
a packaging material dispenser; and a packaging system controller for providing packaging instructions related to a part to be packaged and instructing the packaging material dispenser to dispense the packaging material.
- 156. A packaging system, comprising:
a packaging material dispenser; and a packaging processor for retrieving a predetermined packaging requirement for a particular part, and instructing the packaging material dispenser to dispense such packaging material.
- 157. A method of packaging parts, comprising the steps of:
identifying a part to be packaged; retrieving packaging instructions associated with the part to be packaged; and controlling a packaging material dispenser using the packaging instructions.
- 158. A packaging system, comprising:
a packaging material dispenser; and a packaging system controller for determining packaging instructions for a part to be packaged, instructing the packaging material dispenser to dispense packaging material in accordance with the determined packaging instructions, and providing a packaging explanation to an operator.
- 159. A method of packaging differing parts, comprising the steps of:
identifying at least one characteristic of a part to be packaged; determining packaging instructions associated with the part to be packaged using the at least one characteristic; and controlling a packaging material dispenser using the determined packaging instructions for producing cushioning material.
