Abstract
A cap assembly with interchangeable components for removably displaying indicia on the cap includes a crown frame that is concave to define an interior space. A cover is releasably attachable to the crown frame, and the cover extends over and around the crown frame when the cover is attached to the crown frame. An attachment member has a first mating element which is coupled to the cover and a second mating element which is coupled to the crown frame. The first mating element is engageable with the second mating element to releasably attach the cover to the crown frame.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
(1) Field of the Invention

The disclosure relates to caps with interchangeable components and more particularly pertains to a new cap with interchangeable components for removably displaying indicia on the cap.


(2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98

The prior art relates to caps with interchangeable components, including a cap with interchangeable logos that are attachable on a front side of a crown portion of the cap.


BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a crown frame that is concave to define an interior space. A cover is releasably attachable to the crown frame, and the cover extends over and around the crown frame when the cover is attached to the crown frame. An attachment member has a first mating element which is coupled to the cover and a second mating element which is coupled to the crown frame. The first mating element is engageable with the second mating element to releasably attach the cover to the crown frame.


There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.


The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new cap with interchangeable components embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.


As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6, the cap assembly with interchangeable components 10 generally comprises a crown frame 12 which is concave to define an interior space 14. The crown frame 12 includes a headband 16 and a pair of elongated members 18. The headband 16 has an annular shape, and each of the pair of elongated members 18 is arcuate to define the interior space 14. A pair of ends 20 of each of the pair of elongated members 18 is coupled to the headband 16 opposite each other across the interior space 14. The pair of elongated members 18 is fixedly interconnected at an intersection 22 of the pair of elongated members 18. The intersection 22 is positioned above the headband 16. The pair of elongated members 18 includes a first elongated member 24 extending from a front side 28 of the headband 16 to a back side 30 of the headband 16 and a second elongated member 26 extending from a first lateral side 32 of the headband 16 to a second lateral side 34 of the headband 16.


A cover 36 is releasably attachable to the crown frame 12. The cover 36 extends over and around the crown frame 12 when coupled to the crown frame 12. The cover 36 has an indicia 38 that is positioned on an outer surface 40 of the cover 36. “Indicia” in the detailed description and the claims is used to refer to both the singular and plural forms of the word. The indicia 38 may include one numbers, letters, ornamental designs, logos, symbols, or the like. In some embodiments, the indicia 38 is positioned on a front portion 42 of the outer surface 40 that faces forwardly from the crown frame 12 when the cover 36 is attached to the crown frame 12. The cover 36 is dome shaped and has a rim 44 at a lower end of the cover 36 such that the rim 44 faces downwardly from the cover 36 when the cover 36 is attached to the crown frame 12. A brim 46 is coupled to and extends forwardly from the front side 28 of the headband 16. The brim 46 is rigid and may be planar or arcuate, for example.


Each of a plurality of attachment members 48 has a first mating element 50 is coupled to the cover 36 and a second mating element 52 is coupled to the crown frame 12. The first mating element 50 is engageable with the second mating element 52 to releasably attach the cover 36 to the crown frame 12. Each of the plurality of attachment members 48 comprising snap button fasteners. The first mating element 50 is a male snap button element, and the second mating element 52 is a female snap button element. But each attachment member may be a hook-and-loop fastener, button, zipper, or the like.


The plurality of attachment members 48 includes a first attachment member 54, second attachment member 56, third attachment member 58, and fourth attachment member 60. The first mating element 50 of the first attachment member 54 is positioned on an inner surface 62 of the cover 36 adjacent to a back portion of the rim 44, and the second mating element 52 of the first attachment member 54 is positioned on the back side 30 of the headband 16. The first mating element 50 of the second attachment member 56 is positioned on the inner surface 62 of the cover 36 adjacent to a first lateral portion of the rim 44, and the second mating element 52 of the second attachment member 56 is positioned on the first lateral side 32 of the headband 16. The first mating element 50 of the third attachment member 58 is positioned on the inner surface 62 of the cover 36 adjacent to a second lateral portion of the rim 44, and the second mating element 52 of the third attachment member 58 is positioned on the second lateral side 34 of the headband 16. The first mating element 50 of the fourth attachment member 60 is positioned on an upper end of the inner surface 62 of the cover 36, and the second mating element 52 of the fourth attachment member 60 is positioned on the intersection 22 of the pair of elongated members 18.


In use, the cap assembly 10 is worn on the head 66 of a user 64. The cover 36 is attached to the crown frame 12 via the plurality of attachment members 48. Some embodiments may include a plurality of covers 36 with different indicia 38, such that one of the covers 36 can be selectively attached to the crown frame 12 to display the indicia 38 of the selected cover 36.


With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.


Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims
  • 1. A cap assembly with interchangeable components comprising: a crown frame being concave to define an interior space;a cover being releasably attachable to said crown frame, said cover extending over and around said crown frame when said cover is attached to said crown frame; andan attachment member having a first mating element being coupled to said cover and a second mating element being coupled to said crown frame, said first mating element being engageable with said second mating element to releasably attach said cover to said crown frame.
  • 2. The assembly of claim 1, further comprising said crown frame including a headband and a pair of elongated members, said headband having an annular shape, each of said pair of elongated members being arcuate to define said interior space, a pair of ends of each of said pair of elongated members being coupled to said headband opposite each other across said interior space.
  • 3. The assembly of claim 2, further comprising said pair of elongated members being fixedly interconnected at an intersection of said pair of elongated members, said intersection being positioned above said headband.
  • 4. The assembly of claim 2, further comprising said pair of elongated members including a first elongated member extending from a front side of said headband to a back side of said headband and a second elongated member extending from a first lateral side of said headband to a second lateral side of said headband.
  • 5. The assembly of claim 1, further comprising said cover having an indicia being positioned on an outer surface of said cover.
  • 6. The assembly of claim 5, further comprising said indicia being positioned on a front portion of said outer surface that faces forwardly from said crown frame when said cover is attached to said crown frame.
  • 7. The assembly of claim 1, further comprising said cover being dome shaped and having a rim at a lower end of said cover, wherein said rim faces downwardly from said cover when said cover is attached to said crown frame.
  • 8. The assembly of claim 1, further comprising said attachment member comprising a snap button fastener, said first mating element being a male snap button element, said second mating element being a female snap button element.
  • 9. The assembly of claim 4, further comprising said attachment member being one of a plurality of attachment members, each said attachment member having a first mating element being coupled to said cover and a second mating element being coupled to said crown frame, said first mating element being engageable with said second mating element to releasably attach said cover to said crown frame, said plurality of attachment members including: a first attachment member, said first mating element of said first attachment member being positioned on an inner surface of said cover adjacent to a back portion of said rim, said second mating element of said first attachment member being positioned on said back side of said headband;a second attachment member, said first mating element of said second attachment member being positioned on said inner surface of said cover adjacent to a first lateral portion of said rim, said second mating element of said second attachment member being positioned on said first lateral side of said headband;a third attachment member, said first mating element of said third attachment member being positioned on said inner surface of said cover adjacent to a second lateral portion of said rim, said second mating element of said third attachment member being positioned on said second lateral side of said headband; anda fourth attachment member, said first mating element of said fourth attachment member being positioned on an upper end of said inner surface of said cover, said second mating element of said fourth attachment member being positioned on said intersection of said pair of elongated members.
  • 10. The assembly of claim 1, further comprising a brim being coupled to and extending forwardly from said front side of said headband.
  • 11. The assembly of claim 10, further comprising said brim being planar and rigid.
  • 12. A cap assembly with interchangeable components comprising: a crown frame being concave to define an interior space, said crown frame including a headband and a pair of elongated members, said headband having an annular shape, each of said pair of elongated members being arcuate to define said interior space, a pair of ends of each of said pair of elongated members being coupled to said headband opposite each other across said interior space, said pair of elongated members being fixedly interconnected at an intersection of said pair of elongated members, said intersection being positioned above said headband, said pair of elongated members including a first elongated member extending from a front side of said headband to a back side of said headband and a second elongated member extending from a first lateral side of said headband to a second lateral side of said headband;a cover being releasably attachable to said crown frame, said cover extending over and around the crown frame when coupled to the crown frame, said cover having an indicia being positioned on an outer surface of said cover, said indicia being positioned on a front portion of said outer surface that faces forwardly from said crown frame when said cover is attached to said crown frame, said cover being dome shaped and having a rim at a lower end of said cover, wherein said rim faces downwardly from said cover when said cover is attached to said crown frame;a plurality of attachment members, each said attachment member having a first mating element being coupled to said cover and a second mating element being coupled to said crown frame, said first mating element being engageable with said second mating element to releasably attach said cover to said crown frame, each of said plurality of attachment members comprising snap button fasteners, said first mating element being a male snap button element, said second mating element being a female snap button element, said plurality of attachment members including: a first attachment member, said first mating element of said first attachment member being positioned on an inner surface of said cover adjacent to a back portion of said rim, said second mating element of said first attachment member being positioned on said back side of said headband;a second attachment member, said first mating element of said second attachment member being positioned on said inner surface of said cover adjacent to a first lateral portion of said rim, said second mating element of said second attachment member being positioned on said first lateral side of said headband;a third attachment member, said first mating element of said third attachment member being positioned on said inner surface of said cover adjacent to a second lateral portion of said rim, said second mating element of said third attachment member being positioned on said second lateral side of said headband; anda fourth attachment member, said first mating element of said fourth attachment member being positioned on an upper end of said inner surface of said cover, said second mating element of said fourth attachment member being positioned on said intersection of said pair of elongated members; anda brim being coupled to and extending forwardly from said front side of said headband, said brim being planar and rigid.
