Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to fashion accessories, and specifically to a belt device with customizable adornments.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Many articles of clothing have both practical and ornamental purposes. However, most clothing does not allow the wearer to adjust or customize the clothing for different events, celebrations, or purposes. Some customizable clothing does exist, such as some bracelets, shoes, and other articles that allow attachment and removal of decorative elements. However, these articles of clothing tend to have complicated and expensive methods for customization.

The present invention is a customizable decorative belt that overcomes the limitations of other customizable clothing by offering a simple and interchangeable system of customizable adornment for an article that can be easily used for different wearers in many different contexts.

DETAIL DESCRIPTIONS OF THE INVENTION

All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.

The present invention is a customizable decorative belt configured to be worn by a user and display a variety of customizable adornments. The customizable belt comprises a belt body 1, a belt securing mechanism 2, a plurality of adornments 3, a plurality of lights 5, and a battery 4.

The belt body 1 of the present invention is an elongated strap or band having a first end 11 and a second end 12 oppositely positioned from one another about the belt body 1 and an inner surface 13 and an outer surface 14 oppositely positioned from one another about the belt body 1. The belt body 1 further comprises a securing mechanism configured to connect the first end 11 to the second end 12. The belt body 1 is made of a flexible material such as a soft fabric or plastic, allowing the belt body 1 to curve. Thus, the belt body 1 is configured to bend until the first end 11 and the second end 12 are in contact with one another, securable to one another by the securing mechanism. The securing mechanism may be any mechanism capable of selectively connecting the first end 11 to the second end 12. In one embodiment, as shown in FIG. 6-10, the securing mechanism is an adhesive or hook and loop fastener. In another embodiment, as shown in FIGS. 1-5 and 11, the securing mechanism is a clip or buckle.

The plurality of adornments 3 is configured to be removably and interchangeably attached to the belt body 1. The belt body 1 may comprise at least one first attachment mechanism 10 and each of the plurality of adornments 3 may comprise a second attachment mechanism 30. In the preferred embodiment, the at least one first attachment mechanism 10 is a hook and loop fastener arranged on the outer surface 14 of the belt body 1 while the second attachment mechanism 30 is also a hook and loop fastener configured to engage and disengage with the at least one first attachment mechanism 10. The first attachment mechanism 10 in this embodiment may be a strip of hook and loop fastener covering a significant portion of the outer surface 14 or multiple sections of hook and loop fastener arranged on the outer surface 14. In an alternative embodiment, the at least one first attachment mechanism 10 may be one or more apertures passing through the belt body 1 from the outer surface 14 to the inner surface 13 while the second attachment mechanism 30 is a pin or peg extending from the each of the plurality of adornments 3. In this embodiment, the pin engages with the aperture, removably securing the plurality of adornments 3 to the belt body 1. The pin may further comprise a selectively engageable locking mechanism configured to secure the pin within the aperture unless the locking mechanism is engaged. The at least one first attachment mechanism 10 and the second attachment mechanism 30 are not limited to the above, but can also be adhesives, magnets, or any other viable attachment mechanism. Each of the plurality of adornments 3 further comprises a design element 31, oppositely positioned from the second attachment mechanism 30 such that the design element 31 is visible and facing away from the belt body 1 when the second attachment mechanism 30 is engaged with the at least one first attachment mechanism 10. The design element 31 may be a printed design, 3D formed design, adjustable design (such as a dry-erase material), or any other design element 31.

The plurality of lights 5 and the battery 4 are integrated with the belt body 1. In the preferred embodiment, the plurality of lights 5 is LED lights, though other lights may be used. The plurality of lights 5 is arranged along the outer surface 14 of the belt body 1 and is in electric connection with the battery 4, which powers the lights. The battery 4 may be positioned on or in the belt body 1 at any point, though the preferred location of the battery 4 is within the belt securing mechanism 2, as shown in FIG. 2. The plurality of lights 5 may be arranged in the same pattern/location as the plurality of adornments 3, or the plurality of lights 5 may be interspersed among the adornments with limited or no overlap. In embodiments in which the plurality of lights 5 and the plurality of adornments 3 are similarly positioned on the belt body 1, the plurality of adornments 3 may be translucent, allowing light from the plurality of lights 5 to pass through and light up the plurality of adornments 3. The present invention may further comprise a light control mechanism configured to turn on or off the plurality of lights 5, adjust the intensity or color of the plurality of lights 5, or activate the plurality of lights 5 in a predetermined pattern.

In addition to being customizable in its design, the present invention is also adjustable by a belt adjustment mechanism 20. In the preferred embodiment, the belt adjustment mechanism 20 is integrated into the belt securing mechanism 2. In the case of the belt securing mechanism 2 being a buckle or clip, the belt adjustment mechanism 20 may be a tri-glide or adjustable ladder lock. In the case of the belt securing mechanism 2 being hook and loop fasteners, the adjustment mechanism may be additional hook and loop fasteners positioned along the belt body 1, allowing for the first end 11 and the second end 12 to each connect to the belt body 1 independently rather than connecting to one another. Generally, the securing mechanism is configured to adjust the length of the belt body 1 between the first end 11 and the second end 12, allowing users of different sizes to wear the present invention.

In use, the belt body 1 of the present invention is wrapped around the waist of the user with the inner surface 13 positioned against the user. The first end 11 and the second end 12 of the belt body 1 are secured to one another by the belt securing mechanism 2 and the length of the belt body 1 is adjusted to fit the user by the belt adjustment mechanism 20. The plurality of adornments 3 can be attached to the belt body 1 suing the at least one first attachment mechanism 10 and the second attachment mechanism 30 before or after securing the belt body 1 to the user and the plurality of lights 5 may be turned on or adjusted as desired by the user. The present invention can easily be removed and applied to another user, or the plurality of adornments 3 can be swapped out for other adornments or moved to a different belt of a different user.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
