Abstract
This disclosure relates to a pillow cover with a vertical pocket on the front side for a neck pillow made up of foam. The invention is a rectangular shaped bed pillowcase, with a u-shaped neck pillow for elevating the head while sleeping. This pillow cover is easily portable and designed to fit all types and sizes of pillows.
Description
BACKGROUND
Field of the Invention

The invention relates, in general, to pillows, pillow cases, cushions, neck and head supports and, more particularly to a means for supporting one's head and neck while sleeping. Even more specifically, the invention is focused on individuals in a prone position during repose.

The present invention relates pillow cover with the provision to hold an additional U-shaped pillow allowing aid the body and neck positioning during sleep. The pillow case is directed to proper alignment of the head, neck, and spine along with protecting the hairstyles, eyelash extension and any other related feature while sleeping.

Discussion of Related Art

Bed pillows come in a wide variety of forms. Conventional bed pillows are typically fabric enclosures containing a filler material. Such filler materials include feathers, down, synthetic polymer fiber, foam chips, memory foam and solid latex.

It is widely accepted that conventional pillows fail to provide adequate support to the neck, particularly to the cervical vertebrae, during sleep. This is because when a person lies down with their head on the pillow and the head is placed in a neutral position relative to their body, a gap is formed between their neck and the mattress/pillow edge. The gap that is formed between the neck and the mattress when the head is in a neutral position relative to the spine is greater than the gap formed between the head and mattress. This is the case whether the person is lying on their side or on their back. Usually, the filler material of a pillow is displaced or substantially flattened by the weight of the head and neck, meaning that the head and neck are largely displaced from a neutral position.

Conventional pillows do not adequately compensate for the difference of height between the neck and mattress as typically, there is less padding at the pillow edge in the region of the neck than at the middle portion of the pillow where the head is placed. This therefore provides very little support for the neck.

Many persons prefer, when going to sleep, to lie in the prone position, i.e., face down on their stomach. A major problem with lying in such a position, however, is that in order to breathe properly the neck must be turned at an acute angle of almost 90 degrees. This somewhat awkward positioning of the neck invariably causes increased pressure on the structures that support and comprise the neck anatomy. These include the discs, the joints, the ligaments and the muscles of the neck. Also, as a result of the neck being so turned, the cervical nerves can be irritated causing pain.

Conventional pillows and specific neck pillows do not give the room for laying down in prone, which effects the hair style and cosmetic eyelashes. These pillows do not provide the feature to elevate head for individuals who sleep on side and stomach, to protect hairstyles and eye lash extensions.

No other pillow cover provides the support features with an embedded neck pillow within the pillow cover. Further, flexibility with respect to foam material, pillow cover material and fitting all size of pillows is very limited. Another benefit of this present invention is that depending on one's size and comfort, a person can choose the size and firmness of the bed pillow to support his/her head, but still use the neck pillow, which is specifically designed smaller, to fit between the shoulder and the base of the head; the neck area. Most people have a specific size and firmness of their bed pillow that suits them best. However, if they also have neck or back soreness they have to completely change this bed pillow in order to fix their problem.

The current invention in light of the products present in the market and disadvantages of the previous art has multiple features and advantages not provided prior. The current invention can also be positioned to use for face down sleeping support or by sleeping with an elevated head. This feature is very important as many people struggle to keep their hairstyle the same way, or they get rough hairs after the sleep, or they can't keep the eyelash extensions in contact and have to remove them every now and then. Further all users who need to sleep in prone position or elevated head position due to any certain eye surgeries or procedures may also benefit from the disclosure. In addition, other pillows are not adaptable enough to easily travel with, be used while traveling, and then also for sleep and rest away from home. With this invention one gets to use the same bed pillow that is most comfortable, with the added benefit of a neck pillow to relieve the strain on one's neck or back. The current pillow case cover has an embedded feature of having a u-shaped memory foam material that will elevate one's head so the hair and/or eyelash extensions does not touch the pillow. This product focuses specifically for individuals in a prone position during repose.

Various products have been marketed purporting to address the problem of lack of support in the neck region and to provide room for head elevation, but anything specific for user laying in prone position along with protecting the hairstyle and eyelash extension was not marketed at a higher frequency or was limited. Further as a composite pillow cover case the features given in this invention are not present or are limited.

However, to Applicant's knowledge, none of these prior art devices has been found to be completely suitable to meet this need. Hence, the inventor of the present invention purposes to resolve and surmount existent technical difficulties to eliminate the aforementioned shortcomings of prior art.

The previous art and inventions in this field have limitation with respect to features when compared to the current invention. With reference to previous inventions or utility of such system associated the current invention this holds its own uniqueness and usability in its domain. With all previous embodiments in the field did not provide such facilitation and hence the idea has its own novelty.

SUMMARY

In light of the disadvantages of the prior art, the following summary is provided to facilitate an understanding of some of the innovative features unique to the present invention and is not intended to be a full description. A full appreciation of the various aspects of the invention can be gained by taking the entire specifications, claims, drawings, and abstract as a whole.

The current design and invention of the device is more pertinent to the concept of a pillow case with a with a U-shaped pocket attached on the top of the pillow case to hold an additional pillow to elevate one's head to protect and enable longevity of hairstyles and eyelash extensions.

One of the embodiment of the pillow case is that it is designed for all pillow sizes and is portable and can be used at home and during travel. Another embodiment of the invention is that the pillow cover case is made up of silk material, but is not limited to the aforesaid fabric. The material in future can be customized according to market and consumer preference if required.

Another embodiment of the invention is the pocket on the front of the pillow cover with a vertical opening or a zipper or snap or it can be any other design at the center to hold u-shaped memory foam material, but the choice of the material is not limited to. An improvement to the pillow case will reduce the need to redo and/or replace hairstyles and eyelash extensions. The u-shaped memory foam material will elevate one's head so the hair and/or eyelash extensions does not touch the pillow. This product focuses specifically for individuals in a prone position during repose.

The neck support member of the present disclosure as is embedded in the main pillow case can be used with any of the main pillow body of a conventional pillow type. Thus, through this invention design of having a u-shaped neck support in the pillow case gives the advantage that they do not need to be used with a pillow specifically tailored to the shape of the neck support member. By using a neck support member of the present disclosure with a user's own pillow of choice, the user can add a supportive function to the neck whilst keeping the familiar comfort of their usual pillow, providing a neck support pillow having improved overall comfort for the user.

This Summary is provided merely for purposes of summarizing some example embodiments, so as to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the subject matter described herein. Accordingly, it will be appreciated that the above-described features are merely examples and should not be construed to narrow the scope or spirit of the subject matter described herein in any way.
