With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
The top wall 32 of the lid 18 has a plurality of slots 42 each integrated into a bottom surface 44 of the top wall 32 of the lid 18. The slots 42 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed from a first lateral side 46 of the outer wall 34 of the lid 18 toward a second lateral side 48 of the outer wall 34 of the lid 18. The box portion 14 has an inner wall 50 extending upwardly from a top surface 52 of the bottom wall 20. The inner wall 50 is spaced from the perimeter wall 22 having the inner wall 50 extending around a full perimeter of the perimeter wall 22. Furthermore, the inner wall 50 has an upper edge 54 that is spaced downwardly from the top edge 28 of the perimeter wall 22. A lid support 56 is included which has a first member 58 that is pivotally coupled to a second member 60. A first end 62 of the first member 58 is attached to a second lateral side 64 of the perimeter wall 22 of the box portion 14 and a first end 66 of the second member 60 is attached to the first lateral side 46 of the outer wall 34 of the lid 18. The lid support 56 collapses when the lid 18 is closed and the lid support 56 is extended between the lid 18 and the box portion 14 when the lid 18 is opened.
A storage box 68 is attached to the lid 18 for storing kitchen utensils and the storage box 68 has a forward wall 70 and a lateral wall 72 that is perpendicularly oriented with the forward wall 70. A rear edge 74 of the lateral wall 72 is attached to the bottom surface 44 of the top wall 32 of the lid 18. A lateral edge 76 of the forward wall 70 is attached to an inwardly facing surface 78 of the second lateral side 48 of the outer wall 34 of the lid 18 and the forward wall 70 is spaced from the bottom surface 44 of the top wall 32 of the lid 18 to define an opening 80 into the storage box 68. The storage box 68 is positioned between the plurality of slots 42 in the bottom surface 44 of the top wall 32 and the second lateral side of the outer wall 34 of the lid 18.
A knife holder 82 is positioned in the box portion 14 of the case 12 and the knife holder 82 has a plurality of storage cuts 84 each extending into the knife holder 82. The knife holder 82 has a first wall 86 intersecting a second wall 88; each of the first wall 86 and the second wall 88 is attached to and angles upwardly from a top surface 52 of the bottom wall 20 of the box portion 14 such that an intersection between the first wall 86 and the second wall 88 defines a peak. Each of the first wall 86 and the second wall 88 extends between a front side 24 and a back side 26 of the inner wall 50 in the box portion 14. The knife holder 82 is positioned closer to a first lateral side 90 of the inner wall 50 than a second lateral side 92 of the inner wall 50 and each of the storage cuts 84 extending through the first wall 86 and the second wall 88. Furthermore, the storage cuts 84 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed between the front side 24 and the back side 26 of the perimeter wall 22.
A pair of combination locks 94 is each attached to an outer surface 96 of the perimeter wall 22 of the box portion 14 and each of the combination locks 94 is positioned on the front side 24 of the perimeter wall 22. Each of the combination locks 94 is positioned proximate a respective one of a first lateral side 98 and the second lateral side 64 of the perimeter wall 22 of the box portion 14. A pair of latches 100 is each coupled to an outer surface 102 of the outer wall 34 of the lid 18. Each of the latches 100 is oriented such that each of the pair of latches 100 is aligned with a respective one of the combination locks 94. Furthermore, each of the latches 100 engages the respective combination lock 94 when the lid 18 is closed for locking the lid 18 in a closed position. Each of the combination locks 94 is actuatable into an unlocked condition when a pre-determined combination is entered into the combination locks 94 thereby disengaging the latches 100 to facilitate the lid 18 to be opened. Additionally, each of the combination locks 94 includes a plurality of numeric tumblers 102 that can be rotated to enter the pre-determined combination into the combination locks 94.
A handle 104 is provided which has a central member 106 extending between a pair of outward members 108 each perpendicularly oriented to the central member 106. A distal end of 110 each of the outward members 108 is pivotally coupled to the outer surface 96 of the perimeter wall 22 of the box portion 14 corresponding to the front side 24 of the perimeter wall 22 thereby facilitating the central member 106 to be gripped for carrying the case 12. Additionally, the handle 104 is centrally positioned between the pair of combination locks 94.
A plurality of chef's knives 112 is provided and a blade 113 of each of the plurality of chef's knives 112 is insertable into a respective one of the storage cuts 84 in the knife holder 82 for storing the plurality of chef's knives 112. A plurality of kitchen knives 114 is provided and a blade 116 of each of the plurality of kitchen knives 114 is insertable into a respective one of the slots 42 in the bottom surface 44 of the top wall 32 of the lid 18 for storage having a handle 115 associated with each of the plurality of kitchen knives 114 being exposed. A cutting board 118 is positionable on top of the plurality of chef's knives 112 when the plurality of chef's knives 112 is stored in the knife holder 82. A lower surface 120 of the cutting board 118 rests on the upper edge 54 of the inner wall 50 having a top surface 122 of the cutting board 118 being spaced downwardly from the top edge 28 of the perimeter wall 22 of the box portion 14 thereby facilitating the lid 18 to be closed.
In use, the blade 113 of each of the chef's knives 112 is inserted into the respective one of the storage cuts 84 in the knife holder 82 and the cutting board 118 is positioned on the upper edge 54 of the inner wall 50 of the box portion 14. The blade 116 of each of the kitchen knives 114 is inserted into the respective slot 42 in the bottom surface 44 of the top wall 32 of the lid 18. In this way the plurality of chef's knives 112, the cutting board 118 and the plurality of kitchen knives 114 can be stored in the case 12.
The lid 18 is closed to facilitate each of the latches 100 to engage the respective combination lock 94. In this way the case 12 securely stores the plurality of chef's knives 112, the cutting board 118 and the plurality of kitchen knives 114. Thus, the plurality of chef's knives 112, the cutting board 118 and the plurality of kitchen knives 114 can be securely transported.
