Claims
- 1. A compound of the formula ##STR34## wherein R is alkyl of from one to twelve carbon atoms.
- 2. A compound according to claim 1 which is ethyl 1-cyanocyclohexaneacetate.
- 3. A compound of the formula ##STR35## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen, an alkali metal selected from the group consisting of lithium, sodium, and potassium, an alkaline-earth metal selected from the group consisting of calcium, barium, strontium, and magnesium, ammonium, or an amine cation formed from an amine capable of forming a salt with a carboxylic acid, said amine selected from the group consisting of triethylamine and pyridine and n is an integer of one to three.
- 4. A compound according to claim 3 selected from the group consisting of 1-cyanocyclohexaneacetic acid, sodium 1-cyanocyclohexaneacetate, and potassium 1-cyanocyclohexaneacetate.

This application is a divisional application of Applicants' application, U.S. application Ser. No. 07/564,623, filed Aug. 10, 1990, which application issued Jul. 21, 1992 as U.S. Pat. No. 5,132,451, which is a continuation-in-part application of U.S. application Ser. No. 07/399,056 filed Aug. 25, 1989, now abandoned.
